As for the Atari games, they did not age well.
I was a huge fan as a kid, but playing river raid and pitfall as an adult, it’s pretty boring.

I'm with you here. Open Arms, yes - ballad. Faithfully, yes - ballad. Don't stop - pretty rocking tune with a piano intro, but even that is sorta based on a chord structure (ala cradle), not a melody. And the left hand part is the bass line. Journey had a lot of songs that were extremely commercial and radio friendly so they sounded "like" ballads, but in actuality were not...

    Case in point:

Beautiful guitar work by Schon here..

Ultimately, I think it's just that Steve Perry's angelic voice could make a Motorhead song sound like a ballad...

Precisely. Which is the same reason why a lot of anti Sammites justify their insistence that Sammy turned VH into Journey. Because...gasp...Sammy sings higher octaves.

    Rudimentary audiophile perception.

The only things that have aged well from American pop culture from our coming of age era are mostly hard rock centered. Early VH, Zep, early AC/DC, early U2, early Aero.

80s New Wave, not so much. 80s Metal? Nope. 60s 70s 80s TV? Ugh. Disco? Yeah right. Folk? Nah. Wonder Bread and Pop Rocks? Nope. Even Star Wars A New Hope and ROTJ are pretty cheesy dated. I guess Jaws holds up if you can suspect disbelief for the animatronic shark. Blade Runner holds up except for the noir narration racism lol.

Raiders holds up I think. Less so Temple of Doom and Last Crusade.

Even our coming of age actors didnít hold up. Lol. Such is the nature of passing eras.

Yeah Escape is a badass album, most of it anyway.

My memories of it are this:
My mom taking me to the store to buy the vinyl for my babysitter for Christmas in what I assume was 1981.

Many, many years later, 2009 to be exact: Listening to it a GF's house post divorce on the East side of Fort Wayne Indiana after her belly-dancing show. She jerked me off and "it" went in my eyes. Burned so bad and my eyes were totally bloodshot. I was thinking "man I hope I don't get pulled over on the drive home. Will be sorta difficult to explain why my eyes are so bloodshot"

If I recall, there were also a few really boring songs on the albumthat I skipped over.

Star Wars New Hope and Empire Strikes Back are still classics in my book. I didn't like ROTJ. The Ewoks were corny to me.

Lol! Thatís a solid Journey anecdote. Itís a perfect example of that perennial age old truth of why blowjobs are better than handjobs.

    Cleanup is much easier. :P

I think we may have to get a COULDA, VS, EJC and company "skip" or "play" list for ESCAPE...haha....

DSB - Play (just a small town girl....haha)
Stone in Love - Play (rocks)
Who's Crying Now - Play (Neal ride out solo)
Keep on Runnin - Play (rockin, Neal gets a good solo)
Still they Ride - Play (Neal solo is good.... also every rocker has a soft side.....)

    Escape - Play (Good song)
Lay it Down - Play (pretty rockin)
DOA - Play (forgot about this one, surprisingly more upbeat then I remember. Neal gets a good solo)
Mother Father - Skip (skip the song, but play Neal's solo)
Open Arms - Skip (but play if you are about to close the deal with a significant other...)

    14,000,000 copies sold worldwide....
