Lmfao. So citing actual pop culture references is taking a jab at Van Hagar? Can you possibly be any more insecure?

I have a friend who is a race director. For one of his races earlier this year the T-shirt had Frosty the Snow Man on it and the caption, "Stay Frosty."

I asked him if he was a Van Halen fan and the first words out of his mouth were, "With Sam or Dave?"

There is an undercurrent of that no matter how much some people try to downplay it.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Considering the guy was wearing a “Stay Frosty” t shirt and asked you Sam or Dave I’d say he’s a diehard.

Actually he had no clue that ADKOT even existed.

The race was called "Frosty's Frozen Five."

I was hoping it was in reference to VH on the shirts but that was not the case.

I thought it was a Minion playing Eruption? Or has it been done more than once?

Whether he was implying it or not is irrelevant. You claimed people here were saying the VH lead singer debate is one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons in history, which nobody said. Fact is, that yes, it is a part of pop culture however big or small.

I've had atleast I'd say 2-3 dozen people in my life ask me "which singer?" when it's discovered that I'm a massive fan, and every single one of them was a casual fan at best. You're experiences may differ, just like DD said he's only ever been asked it once. Like I said, even if it's just a small part, it is indeed a part of our pop culture in this country.

And why do you keep "stalking" What A Rocker 1973 on here. It's clear neither of you wants a discussion, at least a civil one, with each other. So why do you keep pushing it? Could it be to start shit that doesnt need to be started?

Every thread in this forum should have a countdown clock to the inevitable Sam v Dave argument. Sweet Jesus.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Oh, I should be clear that nobody in THIS thread, which is the actual discussion at hand, said that this was some huge pop culture phenomenon which you referenced with your sarcastic post, VS.

If it's been done before on here, as you claim, fine but that isn't part of the actual current discussion going on in this thread.

I grew up immediately east of NYC; my experience has always been "Sam or Dave?"

The Sam fans never cared for Van Halen with Roth; the lyric/chorus wasn't thought to be "fun," and Ed's guitar was brutally raw.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again:

My Parents are a part of the silent generation; when I turned up "Girls Gone Bad" or "House Of Pain," after several listens, they'd pound on my door: "LOWER THAT NOW!!!"

When I had bought my 5150 LP, after playing Dreams for the first time, my Ma said: "what was that? I like that..."

The casual listener might not know enough about the band to make the distinction between "Dave" or "Sam," but it's a lot easier to get a casual Dave fan to listen to a Sammy song, than it is to get a Sam fan interested in a Roth era song.

Someone’s got a panty wad tonight. Just can’t maintain it? Too much hard hat?

What’s odd is some guys apparently needing the Dam vs Save thing to be an actual culture current. It’s not. No matter how much some guys weirdly need it to be.

Taking VH lead singer sides was fun for about a year in 1985-1986. After that...what’s the fucking point. Pop culture doesn’t care. A few music rags still occasionally note the nostalgia bent for clickbait and that’s about the end of it outside of this place. The most common sentiment I’ve overheard outside in the mezzanine at every ‘VH’ show since ‘95 is, “Which singer is singing tonight?”

And for the last time, the reason Sammy ‘never shuts his yapper’ is because Sammy is the only guy who does interviews.

Nobody cares, JD. Except some last remaining online fans. Like you. But i know you’ll attend the Dam Halen same as you will the Save Halen. So it’s all wind from you.
