But I have no problem doing it, because it doesn't affect my enjoyment of neither the studio work nor the tour memories I've incurred.

07 was good. By 08 he was reverting to "sing when I feel like it". Didn't see them in 12. 15 was pretty bad. A few good moments....but not many.

And THAT was the year they choose to expose themselves on national TV.

Should have done that in 07.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

That said, he is 100% correct in this thread. 07 was the best Dave sang since Wacf tour. 04-10 Dave was killer vocally. Since he simply has not had control of his diaphragm well. His adjustment was to hit the gas which meant he slipped a gear and went high. He really only adjusted by forcing less air rather than more mid way through the 15 tour, specifically the Bristow show onward. His range is intact, his control is the variable almost like a transmission slipping a middle gear and unable to hold it. Power, well he was never a power guy ever and is now 10 years older. Early 50s to early 60s is a bitch of a decade. But why does he sound ok and the horrible really comes down to control. Now he also should add reverb to his mic but refuses, surprise a stubborn artist yeah most of them are.

    But why no reverb???

That was always a great effect on his vocals during the six pack tours. Makes no sense.

Octave control obviously is the main culprit, yes. That, and possible ADD distraction in focusing on the vaudeville schtick, even mid song, rather than the harmony required for the song at hand.

07 Dave was good not 78 Dave by any means but good. Much better than Ribfest Dave. Then he fell off a cliff.

Vaudeville schtick. Doesn't mix well with family.

I went to all three tours. Dave nailed it in 2007-2008. When I saw them in 2012 it was jarring. It was a pretty steep drop-off. I was hoping for a recovery in 2015, but it was worse. Man, if only Mike had been on the 2007-2008 tour and Ed had stayed sober for the entire tour. That would have been a great swan song.
