I have not, but I imagine he probably looks like a bit of a rat.

Wow, I'm an absolute movie freak and I somehow missed this one. I'll be watching it on Amazon Weds nite. Then I click on the link, and Pat Methany is playing at my
Alma Mater on September 10th. Getting tix tomorrow after I convince my GF that Methany is "sorta" like Rob Thomas... Thanks Coulda!

The movie always seemed to me like it was set in the middle of nowhere like the Nevada desert or something LOL.
Great movie, JD! Haven't seen it in years. They never play that on cable.
LOL. Yeah, they were in a housing track in the desert. I'd say they got a little bored.

It's been awhile since I watched it, but didn't the dude get his nose busted in a split second?

LOL. That crappy rec center is all they had. I'd go crazy living there, too.

I have no idea why it's scrubbed or ignored by the actors.

A guy at work, who's my age, still quotes the damn thing:
He'll see me walk by & say, I want my two dollars!
There's one line in there I used to use a lot. Back in the 80's when we got phone calls of people selling stuff, or someone you knew the other party didn't want to talk too, I would say, " Ahhh, my Grandmother is tripping on acid you're gonna have to call back later..click".

High desert towns are a very unique environment to grow up in, even more so a lifetime.

I guess I can't say I'm surprised no regular Linkers are desert residents that I can tell...except maybe Joe. I think he may live out desert way east of LA, or nearby anyway.

I've had to wheel n' deal with high desert dwellers a number of times over the years, and I've certainly combed the Mojave and Colorado and Sonoran / Anzo Borrego deserts for various misadventures with the dogs. Anybody ever been to Slab City, the last 'free city' in the US, out by the Salton Sea in southeast Cal? It is, shall we say, a very unique place. There's a borough out there called Bombay Beach, which is basically the ruins and surrounding environs of an old Salton Sea beach resort built in the 50's, and it absolutely is probably the most post apocalyptic little village in all the USA. It's literally a real life representation of one of those post nuclear wasteland villages in the Fallout games. I've been there a few times. It is magnificently dystopian. Burnt out cars. Garbage can fires. Grafitti-splattered shacks and mobile homes in various stages of decay, the nearby rotting and putrid Salton Sea beach littered with debri and dead fish and bird skeletons, a single wasteland appropriate bar, and searing 120 plus heat four months a year.

Desert rats are a unique breed of Americans.

Yeah, I'm not slagging on the Desert rats, Squalen. I'm sure it had it's moments. And totally different if you spent most of your young life their.

I have seen that city on TV. Seeing places like that creeps me out.
But I woulda made that trek, definitely.
