I thought it was funny and also had some new stories, that I haven't heard before.
But then I am a Classic Van Halen Fan, so please ignore.

Point is, standing on a pedestal pretending you’re above it all is perhaps superfluous.

Reminds me of a joke Steve Martin used to tell about how he believed every woman should be put on a pedestal. The punch line would now be considered sexist.

Haha, being a big Steve Martin fan, i figured it had to be.

I love the bit about his female friend's vocal coach:

Old guy, last guy you'd expect in the world, but.....listen....to....this....
He wanted her to sing......from her diaphragm.....

    Everything, Jape!

Hard to put into words, but basically I was a hardcore (but loving) atheist and then one day in deep meditation and stillness where the mind was brought to a stop - there was a shift in consciousness, an ego death, a boundary dissolving union with cosmic consciousness, and any fear of death faded and instead there was an infinite sense of peace and deep knowing that all is well, always and forever.

Well. Not a full blown ego death.

Are you saying you found God?

Yes, and found that God isn't separate from pure consciousness. The separation, the ego, the sense of the individual is the illusion, and it's tenacious, but once seen through, like seeing that what you thought was a snake...was really a just a rope...it changes everything! I highly recommend deep meditation and stillness. It's like a ripple on a lake...rippling away...feeling separate from the other ripples and the lake...and then it slowing down...til it stops rippling...which is like a death...a death of its feeling separate from the lake...and as it merges with the clear lake...it now knows it's part of something unfathomably larger...it's one with the lake and was never separate...only thought it was...! Astonishing!

Then it can go back rippling again, but now knowing its true nature as wholeness itself.
