All I used was a free program called Audacity, which also has a vocal remover setting. I can take a stab at the songs and see what happens. Send me a PM for what exactly you want
There's a thin line between genius and insanity. I like to dance on it.

I totally agree.. if you never experiment you're never gonna make any progress. It's really unfortunate that the lack of success or whatever of VH3 hurt Eddie's ego so badly. Pretty much the start of the VH Dark Ages.

The VHIII that shouldve been was a continuation of the four guys who gave us MWM and CGTSNM. A full album of material of that quality with the same level of production in 97 or 98 wouldve been huge.

    Exactly.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Whoever you are, why oh why couldn't you have been the engineer on III Thanks for a job well done.

I don't know what kind of equipment you're using, and I know that it's a tall order to ask, but there's no way that you could eliminate the vocals off of Sammy era material, could you?

There are a couple of songs where I would love to hear only the guitar - songs like Summer Nights, and Sucker In A Three Piece.

Oh, fuckin A right! I too would love to hear the Hagar era, sans vocals. I have heard some stuff like Big Fat Money without vocals, and it was great - lots of stuff going on that you cant hear wit the vocal.

EVH's work is so rich...so many textures

I thank you for the offer.

To be honest, you did such a great job remastering the songs, I assumed that you had access to professional software.

Audacity is a great program, but I didn't get the results that I wanted last time I had used it. Maybe I will give it another shot...

    Got a chance to listen.
I gotta admit I was skeptical, but you did a great job, masong. Sounds way less muddy. Everything sounds more pronounced. Al and Mike come thru better in some spots.

See what you can do with ADKOT.

    A good question, for sure.

But here's my twofold problem with EVH: he knew, going into this, that what he had produced was a radical departure from the past. Why then, was the outcome so surprising?

The other thing: I know...what came first, the chicken or the egg - but much of what plagued the album had nothing to do with the core/what was written (e.g. the songs were much too long, ill used computer sound effects, etc).

Finally, that a guy on VHLinks can use a free software program to make marked improvements to the sound of an album, is an embarrassment to whoever engineered/produced the record.

Ted Templeman would not have let that record go out, as it was.

Yes, they played Dallas. Was living in Texas at the time and saw them there. It was a shed. Think it was called the Coca-Cola Starplex or something like that at the time.

Loved this show. Also introduced me in earnest to KWS, which was another bonus.

Don’t understand the question. Are you insinuating that VH fans let down Ed by not liking this disc? That they “owed” him something, as far as how they responded to whatever music VH released?
