Great that Gary got to jam with Sammy and Mike again! That's very cool, and what it's supposed to be all about - Music and Fun!

I really wanted to hear the follow up record to III, as I did enjoy most of Eddie's music on that album. Him taking potshots at Gary's wardrobe? Not cool, when Ed himself looked like a vagrant in most photos etc. from that era... I won't get into how ridiculous Dave has looked for the last several years, and many times in the past.

Yeah, I thought Eddie's were worse than Gary's. A near mock turtle neck and dress slacks? F'N A, VAN HALEN ALL THE WAY! . He had various colors for this outfit as well.

Gary should've known right then and there that it wasn't gonna work...

Oh Ed knows that odd stage wardrobe is part of VH and helped get them to the top. He probably didn't care what he was wearing. Just another after-the-fact excuse/deflection so he wouldn't have to tell (or even think about) the real reasons it didn't work out.

The main one being that he is the problem.

Which is weird, because on that rare video where he's playing an unplugged version of parts of It Ain't Over 'Till it's Over, he seemed genuinely stoked about the follow up to III...

I think Gary was right; they should've toured first and then put out the album. He/they probably would've gotten a better reception. And we'd have more music...

Ed always plays up whatever he's currently doing musically as the greatest thing ever along with whoever he's doing it with, and disses anyone previously associated with him as the worst.

Still think EVH,’s fair warning attire was, and still is, the coolest shit ever. To me, the knickers, The red/white striped socks and the music just seemed to all tie in together. And of course the Frankie. What ever mojo he had going on in his head to wear that, well, I bought into it!!! So much so that I actually dressed like that one year for Halloween.

If they had toured first, and not filmed the first show, everyone would've been talking about how they were playing the old stuff, and that would've probably would have led to more people attending. I know this, I enjoyed the 1998 concert as much as I did any of the concerts, and hearing the old stuff was a part of that. The new stuff sounded good live, too, I just think that some of the songs could've been tightened up a little more before recording.
