I will say (and mirror another post) that Dave isn't aging gracefully! The voice, the attire, the long lost 'swagger', etc.

I hope Van Halen aren't done, yet I hope they are done with Roth, unless a joint tour with you-know-who and you-know-who is on the horizon.
Yeah, we get it. You hate Dave.

I don't hate him, I just don't prefer him... Big difference...
His 'act' as of late is complete Bullsh*t IMO.

What act? There is no act because there’s nothing happening.

Robbie, just be honest. You absolutely love seeing Dave get slagged because you think this increases the chances of Sammy returning to Van Halen. The only problem is Eddie seems to hate Sammy as much as you hate Dave.

I don't prefer him either, but I prefer the music that Ed wrote with him to what he wrote with Sam.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Lol that's exactly what it is. But, you have to remember we are talking about the guy who for years repeatedly exclaimed "I love all eras equally!!!!"

For me, the classic era, Dave in his prime, was absolutely untouchable.

But Sammy kinda aged a lot better, vocally & visually.

I'm not sure exactly what Dave has become, but he just doesn't remind me of the
    guy on WACF.
It's more than just him aging, it's just the vibe, the presentation.

And none of them have ever been bigger, draw-wise.

I just saw Bob Seger and Grand Funk last week. Same venue VH/KWS played in 2015, both on a weeknight/school night.
The VH show wasn't 2/3, maybe 3/4 sold out. We got free upgrades from lawn to seats. Loads of people did.

Bob Seger wasn't sold out, but he wasn't far from it. He's been back touring for awhile and still bringing them in.

I would say that if you come around every year or so and put on a great show, word will get around and more people will come see you next time. You get a reputation for such things. "Leaving them wanting more" doesn't work like that.
Kiss and Aerosmith have plastered themselves everywhere the past thirty years. The other bands tour a lot because they don't tour alone.

The last tour some here said they didn't wanna go cuz they seen them twice already. It was just them playing greatest hits I want something different. A record, or Mike, if I go.

The same old greatest hits show gets boring to some fans. The same thing happened to the Stones. They came around a few times too often and sales dropped.

The fact remains ticket sales have dwindled every tour. If they toured every year, or two, they'd be playing Casinos and House of Blues type joints by now.

All the venues are different, as well. It was almost $60 bucks to sit on the lawn at Blossom. People aren't doing that every two years to hear the same thing.
If they're missing you they're more willing to spend.

Nobody is missing VH except us diehards.

Ticket sales for more popular artists have certainly not dwindled. U2 and the Stones still sell out stadiums routinely. The Stones have toured every year since ‘12 and are easily filling the Rose Bowl.

There’s no increased demand for VH because they’ve been on hiatus. If anything, there’s less. Because people are marginalizing them now.

Out of sight, out of mind.

No, the Stones aren't touring North America every year. The last tour was 2015 and they didn't all sell out. That was also the last stadium tour. That was also their first stadium tour since 1998. They played stadiums once in awhile but not a whole tour.
Rose Bowl? I don't think they've played their since '94. They usually play Dodger Stadium. Their days of filling the Rose Bowl ended in the 90's.
I'm on Shidoobee and the #1 topic for tours is sales and attendance figures. When a venue isn't packed, or when U2 beats one of their records it's the end of the world. This topic is very important to baby boomers, apparently.
Of course the stadium tour this time around is much shorter. Even before Mick's health issue.

Yeah, their/VH fans are missing them. We're talking about when is VH gonna tour, so, I think there's some demand now.

Let Journey, or whoever, tour alone a few times and see what happens. There's a reason they don't do that.

The Stones are playing stadiums on this tour and tickets are pretty much gone. Am I missing something here?

There's no question that if any of us could go back to 1996 and play god, VH would be in a great place. They had in right in front of them and burned their legacy to the ground. The last seven years are just another large piece of wood thrown on that fire.

Van Halen doesn't tour by themselves anymore. KWS is a pretty decent opener.
I saw Journey a couple years ago with just Asia. They did well that tour, they don't always tour with Def Leppard.

And the Stones? Yeah, they still kill it. They might not sell totally out, but they're playing stadiums and charging Texa$$ for tickets and still selling loads of them.
