Actually, the less than exuberant reception proves a great point. In the end, It doesn’t matter about the individuals who created the music, it’s the music that will live on no matter which incarnation of the band is represented.

Would their reaction have been any different if Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger or Robert Plant had knocked on their door? Would they have recognized any one of those fairly well-known singers?

Doesn’t matter, does it? Dave could have been given a hero’s welcome and it would be the same shit again and again.

It really is sad to see a founding member of our favorite band get slagged for trying to stay relevant. I guess it's much cooler to act like a hermit.

McCartney and Jagger i think would have been recognized. Plant not so much. I think he would have gotten the "who is this old man?" treatment.

What about Ringo Starr or Keith Richards? The might have recognized Keef as Jack Sparrow's dad from Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Maybe it was Dave's attempt to light a fire under the Van Halens?

Yeah, Mike. I think the weirdest part of it all is that Dave posted the encounter for everyone to see. So in his mind, despite their "Who's this strange guy at our door? Sorry for the noise, sir." reaction, Dave still truly felt that they were star-struck that THE DLR appeared at their door.

I mean, okay, so some young dudes didn't recognize the old 80's rock star. So what. At this stage these spontaneous DLR encounters will be hit or miss, obviously. But posting it in order to promote himself is weird.

It seems like his perpetually bloated rock-star ego is too great to admit even to his little production entourage that it was a miss. He says to his crew afterwards as they're at the elevator "Wasn't that great?" before the young man appears again to apologize again for the noise. lol smh

Just delete that shit and move on, man.

My wife and younger daughter were helping out a friend last night at the Wango Tango event at the Stub Hub Center in Carson. They said that Taylor Swift and The Jonas Brothers actually sounded really good.
