Yep. I agree with all that. The Stones were a bad analogy to use on my part. They release so many old live Dvds's regularly & tour fairly frequently they've never neglected their fanbases appetite for too long.

I can only surmise VH have a stick up their butt against their main Warners Brothers record company or something. Can't really comment about something without knowing what the deal is but on the surface to regular fans it certainly appears to be quite ignorant & selfish to refrain from releasing old live stuff & so forth.

I have no beef with their recent touring schedule though. They at least did that. Even though they skipped my town here in 2015 I know it's not their fault most likely the local promoter or whatever.

I was just up close in the pit. It's easy to get great pix when you're stage side.

I was close enough to see Eddie razz Dave with a little HB, and close enough to see Dave get irritated, that's for certain.

They jack up ticket prices because theyíre smaller venues, balancing out regional demand with Ďwalk-iní casino tourist interest. Usually they offer VIP tiers for those kind of casino runs. Itís certainly lucrative for the artists and itís easier on the old rocker bods Ďcause they donít have to hop on the tour bus.

Dave mentioned something about it in a recent EDM interview. He could just be rambling like always, but itís not a wise thing to suggest if heís still hoping for a new contract with Eddie Inc. I imagine Dave is tired of waiting around.
    I appreciate your explanation.

I could be wrong, but i'm inclined to think that Dave is exploring residency options for himself. I can't see Ed or Al going for that kind of arrangement.

That is indeed what I meant. Dave is implying he's considering a House of Blues Mandalay residency. It's almost certainly just for him, doing the solo bit, if it's in any way truthful. VH, even VH4, is still too big an act for an HOB residency. The HOB is a club venue in the middle of the Mandalay Bay casino, maybe 2000 seats, I think. Not suited for a VH residency, no. A DLR solo residency, perhaps.

I would be shocked if Eddie agreed to a Vegas residency. That isn't his bag.

Actually, upon consideration, at this point a 2500 seat club venue residency might be an apropos avenue for VH4. Tickets at 200 a pop, VIP tiers, 3 nights a week for a couple months, or even one month. And upon further consideration, I don't think Dave solo is gonna have anywhere near enough of a draw to warrant a Live Nation/HOB sponsored residency at Mandalay extending beyond a weekend, which obviously isn't a residency at all.

A smaller joint for DLR solo in Vegas, sure...like Vinyl, at 500-600 seats, or the Foundry at 800 capacity maybe.

Great thread. Great photos. If 2015 was the end of the road for VH, I too was lucky enough to have it be the road that led into and out of Red Rocks. Caught the band in Salt Lake two nights earlier, and then road tripped to Denver with three other traveling VH bros. Met up with several other longtime VHML-ers. Was totally raining heavily before the show, but let up partway during Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Watched KWS from Row 2, and VH from Row 9. The VH set was amazing, and after the storm parted it was an unbelievably gorgeous Colorado night. The only show I've seen at Red Rocks, but worth every moment of the drive it took to get there. I hope that's not it for VH, but if it is, I'm at peace with it. Experiencing your favorite band with longtime friends you met through the years completely through following VH, and seeing it unfold at the world's best outdoor concert venue -- yeah, I couldn't do better.

At $200.00 a pop, even putting 1500 butts in the seats, three times a week, gets you $900,000.00.

Dave doesn't have the star power to do that.

And your expenses are much lower than on a tour going from stop to stop.

If Dave is chasing a HOB residency...then VH is over...there is no contract between VH and DLR any more...it's game over...After all these years, I'm willing to bet Wolf thinks Dave is a freak and is tired of the nonstop bullshit....

Daveís been contracted only on a tour by tour basis obviously.

Given the EDM appearances and the offhand commentary...I think once the stadium co-bill idea was shot down earlier this year for whatever reason...Dave is looking for a new gig.
