Just think about that. Which one is better for use as custom ringtone: ATBL or HTF? ATBL, hands down, no contest! Why is that? HTF (just like AFU, with tapped harmonics intro similar to the one in Women in Love) starts with a drum intro. Meh.

    Mean Street > Unchained.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that ATBL and Mean Street are the two best examples of Van Halen song intros. Not bad for a so called 'Sammy guy', eh? Many honorable mentions, yet those two are pretty timeless...

I remember the 1st time I listened to the intro of HEH. Back then, I didn't know it was Last Night with new lyrics and balls.
Only =VH= could come up with something killer like that.

As for tunes with both Drum & Guitar Intro, I'd pick stuff like Atomic Punk, Outta Love Again & Hot for Teacher.
TT: "Wow, you can play acoustic guitar?"
    EVH: "Sure. What's the difference? It's got six strings... It's a guitar!" - 31.12.1978

Van Halen had numerous great intros. And riffs. And verses. And choruses. And bridges. And breakdowns. And solos. And outros.

Rumor has it they were a pretty good band.
