One Foot is ferocious playing, full of fire. DDL is like sex.

Drop Dead Legs....So much so that I had it on my answering machine as a sort of fade out after the obligatory "Thanks for calling but i'm not in so leave your name and number"....Followed by a "bring us on home Eddie!"

Mind you this was in the mid 1990's when I was a bachelor, live in a bachelor pad, and at a time when we had analog message machines....Come to think of it, I think I still have that actual mini cassette tape from the machine laying around somewhere. Anyway, I received many a cool message from callers stating they loved the "Van Halen ending" to my quirky message.

Part of what makes this such a ferocious out take is the underlying groove compliments of Al and Mike....I find it just f#cking brutal but yet tasteful at the same time....It's what makes Van Halen Van Halen in my opinion.

    It's a cool groove, but it's noodling.

    "One Foot" has purpose.
He comes in the door & just attacks!

Eddie's outro on One Foot Out The Door is like Randy's outro on Tonight. Both fade out way too quickly.

    Completely agree!

Both of those solo's are so inspired and spontaneous.
I'd love to hear what happened after the fade.
