    Understatement.

I’ve never heard him play with that much emotion before or after. That’s what makes Ed special in a world of guitar wankers. He was the whole package. Only that much talent could carry two bands.

    Three not so much.

Eddie's solo from 2:50 to 3:21 are 31 seconds of the king at the height of his powers ...

My favorite solo on FW, and easily a top 5 all time solo by him.

Drop Dead Legs is one of my favorites on a short list, although the outro in One Foot Out The Door is almost a song/masterpiece unto itself.
It could easily be "Eruption II"...

    I broke the tie.

"One foot" is the king, not even close:
Total aggression, he sounds like a mad scientist in a lab, there's a sinister edge & some
    funkiness towards the end.

DDL is very cool, but it's Holdsworth-esque noodling.
I love hearing it, but "One Foot" has the conviction.

Damn you Coulda and your conundrums!

Some of the songs and records have been brutal but this may be the toughest, for me, yet.

The cool laid back groove of DDL's or the melt your face off of OFOTD?

    I gotta go with OFOTD.
I like DDL the song better, but OTD ends the record. Cuz it's such an amazing way to end a record I give it the edge.

They both are song-ending solos with a fade out.

And they are both examples of Eddie playing outside, which is usually very rare in rock solos - for a few seconds he departs from the original scale of the song like a jazz soloist would.

So it has to be a tie. Both amazing.

The very atmospheric and haunting outro on “Me Wise Magic” is my favourite. Sounds like his Sustainiac pickup.

It's a great one, but in a different way. DDL and OFOTD are similar with EVH pushing the enveloppe in his playing.

DDL has Eddie doing lots of blazing, with full fluidity in his left hand. I love the progression under the solo, and the actual licks in the solo itself.

Ofotd is a neat outro as well. Lots of fire and chaotic tapping. I just prefer DDL.

One Foot Out the Door, hands down!!

Not only because of that phenomenal outro. Those 02 stellar guitar solos are out of this world, no doubt about it.
It has much more. I love the bass lines EVH came up to it. So simple and yet so well done and in the pocket!!!
Dave came up with such a funny lyrics, probably wrote in a hurry just like the whole song. And it works!!!
And Alex's performances kicks. Love those fills from 0:23 to 0:26 and the up tempo ones from 0:51 to 0:55.

    EVH: "Sure. What's the difference? It's got six strings... It's a guitar!" - 31.12.1978

I must say I am pleasantly surprised to see OFOTD in the lead right now.
