John 5 + DLR Clip of 2014 recordings
Sorry if this has been posted... this song sounds fucking amazing. Regardless that VH isn't doing anything w/ DLR - I just don't understand why they don't release the music.

That sounds so great!
FWIW I don't think that song was named "California Sessions", that's what Dave called the whole recording process with J5.
Based on DD's list of DLR's unreleased tunes on ASCAP (from thread long ago), it's likely either "Nothing Could Have Stopped Us" or "Party Time"
The lyrics:
"We laughed, we cried, we threw the television off the balcony. That memory means so much to me."
This album needs to see the light of day. Someone hack J5's phone!!!

An addition: In an old interview John 5 says that “Nothing Could Have Stopped Us” is one of his favorite songs that he listens to all the time. So it would likely be the one he pulls up on his phone on the spot.

Sadly, they won't move on it until Dave gets tired of Ed dangling the carrot...then, it will result in a 5000 to 6500 seat type tour....well below a VH crowd and well above a John 5 crowd
I'm willing to bet Dave told him to play a little something....a teaser....things may be about to break up and move on.....How long can Dave possibly sit on an album he was so excited about?"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”

I'll take that bet. There's no way that John 5 played that clip in this interview on Dave's request.
Based on those lyrics it looks like that particular song is written directly to Ed. So yeah, postmortem for sure (after VH is officially dead).

Good stuff, Dave sounded pretty good there, and John5 brings it. I’m starting to realize how under rated J5 is.
Anyone seen the “Hired Guns” documentary that was mentioned in the interview?

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

Yep. This idea perpetuated by Sam guys that his voice is completely shot has always been BS. The problem is always Dave being his own worst enemy when singing live. I think some of the problem is I believe Dave, Ed, and Al are all suffering from major hearing loss. I'd bet Dave cant even hear himself at times up there, much like Ed cant hear that his tone is more abrasive than in years past.

Too short to really form an opinion, but I'll form one anyway! I wasn't blown away by the music and it sounds like Dave is trying to squeeze in too many lyrics again. I felt he did that on several A Different Kind of Truth tracks.
All that said, I really like Dave and I really like John 5, so I hope this gets released soon!
