Didn't Ed say "Dave should keep this guy" or something similar?
Yup. A guy that can play a bazillion styles and riffs, and publicly worhships Roth. It probably makes John 5's stock go up in DLR's eyes, no?

Too many syllables again. Let the guitar breathe dude.

That being said it sounds good.

I guess i'm the only one not feeling that song.

Dave sounds good, but it's just some ordinary acoustic picking.
    At least to my ears.

I think i was expecting a HFT style blazing riff, deal.

We've heard Dave on "blazing riffs" during the last few years and the problem is he goes into his "high notes sounding like a dying cat" type of deal. Much better on this song - he sounds like he did in 1988, just as good. No one had any vocal issues with Dave at the time (well except for EVH).

Vocally, he's on point, but the actual song....?

I dunno, it doesn't sound as great as what everyone is claiming.

Itís not. People are starved for any new VH related tunes, esp by Dave. Itís meh Dave.

This album has been spoken about for a few years now.
I hope it gets released fairly soon, I'm keen to hear it.
If it has some songs similar to "Black Sand" or "Mississippi Power" I'll be happy.
ďAnd what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever Ė that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both Ė thatís intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.Ē - David Lee Roth

Geez dude, it doesn't have to always be a million notes. Sometimes simple is better, ask The Cars and AC/DC.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

It's fine for what it is. Like Sam's last release, just enjoy that these incredibly creative men are still putting stuff out at their ages.

Expecting either Sam or Dave to match the quality of output they wrote and recorded in Van Halen, Montrose, or the EEAS band is simply not reasonable.

Umm, in the same interview that John played this clip he says there are rockers on the album. Not every tune needs to be four on the floor.

I really like the vocals on that clip, sounds like Dave the Storyteller, and I think the lyrics are terrific. Most of the people who love to always claim they dont care about VH lyrics I'd be willing to bet are simply using that as another way to knock Dave, since lyrically he's usually been generally much higher in quality and more consistent and clever than Sam, who is typically about as subtle as a 2x4 to the head, in that regard.

This album is more WACF diverse but most definitely a rock album. Some confusion as unrelated Dave has an entire acoustic album as well, this is NOT that record. This record is being worked on currently as it is not 100% done. Making it for yourself vs to be released different eye, different standard. I do not think the acoustic stuff will come out. It is more personal and off brand.

Didnt I read that Gregg Bisonnette played the drums on it? Is that true? And that John 5 played both the guitars and bass on the album?
