If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)
"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)
"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)
"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen
"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen
"I do like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often." -Paul McCartney

Don’t really consider myself a Sam guy or a Dave guy.
Unfortunately, too often, Dave sounds like hammered dog shit singing live (or sometimes a screeching cat fight). Have no idea if it’s him just not trying or he’s lost his ability. Don’t really see how it makes a difference one way or the other. It’s one of a few reasons I won’t pay to see them live anymore.
Like this clip, would really love to hear the entire record.SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS
"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls
"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

Like just about any singer as he ages, Dave can't sing those songs in the keys they were originally written in, especially because Rock singers usually sing at the top of their range on a recording. They need to bring those songs down a step to a step and a half for Dave to be able to come close to singing them like they were recorded. The problem there is Eddie would have to learn them in a completely different way or tune down so low his guitar would be unplayable. But given that, I wouldn't go see them live again either. The only exception would be if Mike was in the band, then I might go for nostalgias sake.
On that John5 video Dave is singing in a comfortable range. I do remember when Dave left the band and then the brothers were ragging on Dave's singing and the fact that Eddie had to tune down a half step for Dave, Ritchie Blackmore was asked about it all and he said something like, that's stupid, you play the song in a key that is comfortable for the singer.

It's a shame this hasn't been released yet. Sounds like it's got a lot of potential.

John5 is a huge talent. Here’s a great song he co-wrote and played on from Steve Perry’s recent release called “Sun Shines Grey”.

A guy on FB is saying he just heard a whole song on the radio of DLR and John 5....
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”

John 5 was on Eddie Trunk's show and played a sample of the unreleased David Lee Roth/John 5 project ( July 2019)

Wow, seems that Dave FINALLY heard all the fans that were asking him to write another song in the "Damn Good" vibe. Really cool song!

Clip of that song sounded good.
I like John 5's playing a lot, I'm actually listening to one of his solo records right now. Cool stuff.
