Here's one that was love at first sound for me …

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"The truth sounds like hate to those who hate the truth" - Todd Wagner

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

I just played it again. This song is easily My fave of the three tracks so far.

It almost has that 80s era Van Hagar sound.

Im thinking this album is going to be great.

    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

Yeah, this is by far the best of the three. I am trying to place the keyboard riff in the background, I feel like I've heard it before, almost an homage to something.

I think this song is missing a really good bridge or middle eight to break the monotony of the song up a little bit, but yeah, good tune. I dig it.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

    Agree on both points.

Definitely a throwback soundwise to the mid 80s. Enjoying it.

I guess this is the song that has closed most shows on the current tour. I’ve seen When It’s Love in there a few times as closer as well.

The guy sounds Amazing for a 70 year old! I give him an A for effort, sure wish my hero was doing stuff like this.

    72 in October.

    That’s crazy to me.

AFU is top 3 songs from the Van Hagar era for me! Love that song.

    Best of the three but....

The most positive thing I can say is it has a cool vibe to it but my god that is some lazy and mundane songwriting. Just chugs the same 8th note rhythym the whole way through, no changes predictable. Lazy.

Mike must really be loving the opportunity to "spread his wings" and return to the "arpeggiator" style that no doubt Ed taught him.

Lazy songwriting? If it sounds good it is good.

Is the songwriting as lazy as going back to 35 year old songs and rerecording them?
