The 4 OG tracks on DD rival the 18 songs on WACF and FW, easily.

Let me think on this, but I'll tell you right now, it would have to be two versions. Van Halen & Van Hagar. To me they're like 2 different bands. Usually I'm in the mood for one or the other but I've never been in the mood to listen to both.

If I really had to make an 11 track Best Of album I’d take a track from each of the first 10 albums plus my fave BOV 1 track.

    1 - Ain’t Talkin Bout Love
2 - Light Up The Sky
    3 - In A Simple Rhyme
    4 - Mean Street
    5 - Little Guitars
    6 - Hot For Teacher
    7 - 5150
    8 - Mine All Mine
    9 - Judgement Day
    10 - Seventh Seal
    11 - Humans Being

    Deluxe edition:
    12 - Me Wise Magic
    13 - Without You
    14 - Stay Frosty

WACF/FW/DD originals, that is VH's peak songwriting output, in my humble opinion.

Agree. This is the "sweet spot" of VH. They could have left the cover on DD (to get radio airplay) and added 2 or 3 more orignals and it would have been a much better album.

VHI through 1984 is the songwriting sweet spot of Van Halen.

Nope. Not gonna play that shit with him. Guys like 88 have their era, even if they like it all, and guys like me have our era, even though I also like every era of VH.

    Ha. I was kidding anyways.

    Of course it’s subjective

Your humble opinion is not wrong.

Those 22 songs define the warmest cutting edge brown sound VH has to offer.

The band’s best songwriting was 1984/5150 imo.

Nah, Ed and Al had moved away from the brown sound by then. Good albums, powerful for sure. But they'd transformed into mid 80's electric boogie at that point, which resulted in a loss of one of their integral signature sounds.
