I remember being very disappointed in Vitalogy. Even though they were still rocking at that point, the songs seemed very generic and alike. The drumming was boring and i dont even remember McCready being given very many guitar solos on that album. But i havent listened to it since around 96 so i could be misremembering lol.

I do still have Vitalogy on vinyl that my brother in law got me when it came out.

The first two and that's it for Pearl Jam.

To go from the complexities and creativeness of the Soundgarden drumming to PJ i would think hed get bored. I know i would. But the PJ gig probably pays very well. Especially since Garden is sadly no more.
    Soundgarden stomped all over PJ.

Alice In Chains crushes them all, IMO. Killer riffs with the coolest background vocals this side of Van Halen. I would describe their harmonies as hauntingly beautiful.

AIC was the most consistent, for sure, but when Soundgarden's songwriting was "on", they were by far the most talented as far as musicianship capabilities.

IMO, AIC's vocal harmonies in the hard rock genre are second only to VH's.

The only one of Sam's new album that I care about is the one I bought. I have had fun listening to it. He's given us better and worse throughout his career, but I'm pretty happy to get a solid effort from Sam and the Circle. For old and aging rock stars, it ain't bad.

    I like it.

It isn't 5150, but I didn't expect it to be. There are four really good songs on there.

I’ll listen to it again. Nothing really grabbed me right off, but sometimes you need a couple listens.

Sam fumbled big time by calling this a concept album. Maybe in his mind it is, but it's really not. Best to just listen on shuffle as stand alone songs.

My favorite is Wide Open Space. Love the lyrics and Sam's laid back vocals on it... but the chorus almost kills it by sucking the air out of everything else because it's so lazy and unimaginative.

Devil is too short as an opener and fades out just as it starts to get going. Odd decision on that one.
