I think it's Sam's strongest effort since 10/13. But it's not better than 10/13. I still dig Affirmation the best out of all the songs.

And in terms of riff, Sam needs Satch. He comes up with good melodies effortlessly, but his riffs aren't on the same level as someone Satriani. Harmonically it's a bit repetitive, too many Mellencamp-like open chords.

Lyrically, I'm not sure about writing a whole record on the topic of money, with the premise that "money ain't evil." One song, ok. But a whole record?

To sum it up, solid effort. Now go call Satch coz he got some music waitin for ya.

Devil Came to Philly - not a good start. Sounds like they made up the song on the spot. Pretty lazy beginning.

Full Circle Jam - good groove on this one. Sammy could have spent some more time on the lyrics here. This has a chance to be really good. It's ok

Can't Hang - heard it prior. Its alright. Like the verses, missing a chorus.

Wide Open Space - i like this one. Sam sounds great on this.

Free Man - this one is pretty good. These repetitive choruses are getting annoying though. But a good song.

Bottom Line - reminds me of something, not sure what. But i like this. My favourite right now.

No Worries - this ain't bad. I like the chorus - finally a fucking chorus.

Trust Fund - still hasn't grown on me. Good groove. Verses are cool. Lyrics kind of suck. No real chorus.

    Affirmation - not a fan.

Hey hey - back to his wheelhouse. This is pretty good. Can see this working live. Good singalong element to it.

    Overall not a bad effort.

Just noticed "Bottom Line"'s verses sound like the "Future in the Past" breakdown chant part. A little like the "Get Up" (and "Swept Away") verses too.

Sammy vocals are spot on as well.

His voice has definitely aged and much raspier but god damn he sounds good.

I'd be interested in hearing an acoustic album from him. Think it would hit his voice perfectly.

Did you not ever listen to Lite Roast (2014)?

I think an acoustic Hagar club tour would be awesome.

Yeah I did, but that was all prior songs, wasn't it? I'm getting old - I can't remember shit anymore.

    Agreed on an acoustic tour.

yeah, a new record on acoustic. I find his mellow stuff tends to work out better on these records.

Holy shit “Space Between” is #3 on ITunes right now. Not the rock chart but #3 across all genres.

    Old man Hagar crushing it.

When Sam said his goal for The Space Between was to win a Grammy, it got my hopes up. He has been coasting for far too long and I believed he felt he had something to prove and was gonna bring it. What a letdown.

I agree the record sounds great but where are the songs? With only a couple exceptions, everything feels tossed off and half baked. Some of these songs are so one note they feel long despite being only 3 minutes.

But that's the way Sammy speaks. Let me translate for you.

Sammy: "CF is as good as Led Zeppelin"

Translation: "This a high quality hard rock record, the best thing I've done since Balance."

Sammy: "With Space Between I'm gonna get a Grammy"

Translation: "My last three records were terrible, at least with this one I've got a few solid rock tunes under my belt"
