I'm not listening to any more of it piece meal. It's a concept album, I want to hear the concept. Really looking forward to my drive in this morning to listen to it in its entirety.

I wanted to old off until the disk was out to really listen to anything (except trust fund baby cause I was curious). This new stuff sounds fantastic. Affirmation is great, Sam and Mike's harmonies are so f'n good and Chump Change is AWESOME

To be honest, I was a little worried as I listened through it this morning. Kind of felt the first four songs were ok, but nothing great.

Then along comes Free Man. Holy shit what a great song. Worth the price of the album all on it's own. For my money, the best thing Sam has done in a long, long time.

That three song run of Free Man, Bottom Line and No Worries makes the album for me.

The other songs need a few more hooks and arrangement dynamics, but they are fine. Pretty damn good disc for a dude in his 70's. Sam sounds great. Nice to hear Mike actually get to do a walking bass line in a song too (can't remember which one of the top of my head, oh damn, better listen to it again).

    Good effort.

Postscript: Can't help but thinking about how much better it would be with VH, but hey, it is what it is.

PSS: I do that with DLR solo too, just so the Redheads don't lose their fucking minds.

I just sampled the tunes so not to totally ruin it. Like most of you, I have to listen to it straight through for the first time. Very strong album it seems, good ol' rock and roll.

I've thought that more times than not in regards to Sam's music since 1997 (even Chickenfoot).

The album has not left my turntable.

    I fucking love it.

    Bonham’s drum sound is MASSIVE.

Production is really good. Something that has hurt so many recent rock albums, but here you get a well balanced record, sonically.

Back to my must-get-it-in-the-fucking-store-like-the-old-days mission...Barnes & Noble did not have it as they damn near promised but will tomorrow so I said fuck it and called The CD Exchange....who came in to save the day and had one!

    Love it!

As great as The Foot? No, but not too far off. I'd say it might be his best post-VH work outside of it though so far. You can tell this is the first time he seriously tried in his writing for the first time since Ten 13:

Devil Came to Philly: I've always loved the "Hey hey" melody since I first heard the clip last year. Really enjoy it. Novelty song and all.

Full Circle Jam (Chump Change): Wish it was longer, but love it. "High Hopes" meets "Privacy."

Can't Hang: Cool song but mediocre. "Levee" is probably my least favorite Zep tune anyways. Chorus pretty bland for Sammy.

Wide Open Space: Had to have one ballad and I dig it so far.

Free Man: Rocks your balls off. Knew it was gonna be good since the Cabo B-day Bash bootleg.

Bottom Line: Awesome tune. Same as above except sub "happy and fun." Probably my third fave. Great solo.

No Worries: Might now be approaching my favorite non-VH Sammy song after hearing their take on it with the electric guitar and especially big Bonham drums. Look out "Give to Live" and "Future in the Past."

Trust Fund Baby: Same as what I thought before. Rockin' but mediocre. Much like most of you want a chorus and less repetitive phrases. Will listen to whole album together after work and see how it fits.

Affirmation: Second favorite. Love the '80s sound. "Abacab" with a touch of the old "Bite-sized Doritos" commercial jingle (to me for some odd reason). Actually, more like The B-52s "Channel Z": "Thspace junk...lathser bommmb...Othzone hole, better PUT up my um-BRELLa!" lololololol! Still wish it was longer and contained a guitar solo. Favorite guitar on the album along with "Chump Change" and "Free Man."

Hey Hey (Without Greed): See above.

All of the songs stand on their own and certainly sound different from each other, which I applaud.

    Sammy and Mikey baby!!

I've enjoyed Sam's post VH solo work from Marching to Mars right through to Livin It Up. Chickenfoot was then another step up, love the foot. Sam's last 3 solo records have been weak though and, for me, this Circle record falls into the weaker category.

First 3 songs are all weak for me. Wide Open Space, No Worries and Free Man are excellent, Affirmation is good and Bottom Line is ok. The big problem for me is that the weaker songs are really weak.

Devil Came to Philly is poor, Can't Hang sounds even worse next to Wide Open Space, we already know the problem with Trust Fund Baby and Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey..(I think that's what it's called) I assume is some kind of joke from Sam.

However, I'd rather Sam put out a record with 3 or 4 good songs on it than no record at all obviously. More so, I'd really like him to concentrate on the far superior Chickenfoot, recruit Bonham if need be.

Excellent mix and sonics throughout the record. Somebody paid attention to the soundboarding.

Chump Change was much stronger on record than live at the Troub. Leagues different. Great track.

Free Man is crunchy. Good song.

No Worries is augmented by the band from its original acoustic version on When the Party Started, but I may like the OG track better.

Can't Hang was a very strong track live. Might like the live version better.

I think the standout track on the record is Chump Change.
