There was an interesting segment on CBS Sunday Morning this past weekend about this entire exhibit. Steve Miller and Don Felder were interviewed and each played one of the iconic instruments contained in the exhibit. Felder played the white Gibson double neck used to record Hotel California and Steve Miller played a customized mini moog type keyboard used on one of his big hits.

Anyway, Steve Miller had the most air play in the segment and from what he stated, all the instruments, equipment, etc. in the entire exhibit are original and not replicas. A few other nuggets shown were Keith Emerson's massive tweaked out synth from the early ELP days and the white Jimi Hendrix strat played at Woodstock. Very cool segment probably available for viewing on CBS.com....

Heres the link to the Met Exhibition... definitely take a look. It's got pics/descriptions of all the items that will be displayed. This exhibition is huge. SRV's #1 strat. Muddy Water's Tele. The first Fender ever. Tons of cool stuff. Also is a hi-res pic of the back of the Franky. If I was anywhere close to NY I'd be hitting this up for sure!

Not trying to start some shit storm argument, and with all due respect to everyone, the black and white guitar is obviously a reproduction. I see from the metmuseum site that they clearly list the guitar as a repro. Just trying to decide how badly I want to make a trip to NYC.

Yeah, I hope it would be obvious to everyone here that it is a replica.

To the average person seeing the exhibit they probably wouldn't know.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

What a difference a day makes!
Yesterday, when clicking on the link, only two photos showed for me; the bare wood cabinets with the b/w guitar and pedalboard.

Reading all the Frankie posts and stuff about relicing etc. had me thinking "Wtf?" Haha.
Today, the r/w/b guitar photo loaded.... Cool exhibit!

The museum page says that Ed's rig is a "reconstruction" using pedals exactly like the ones he used, etc. So, it looks like only Frankie is real. Which is enough for me. When you consider everything else on display as part of the exhibit, it's well worth the trip. I'm going on Sunday. I may cry in front of SRV's number one.

    Oh man.
On display for nearly 6 months.
    I'm only 4 hours away.
Yeah, I'm gonna go see this at some point.
It'll probably be my only chance to see the Plexi and original Franky in person.
