    Guy is just completely fried.

He’s aged 25 years in the last 10.

The only thing I differ with from most fans here is I think his eccentricities and musical preferences have always been the same. He seems like the same guy to me that he always has. I'm a huge Dave fan, but then or now he'd be hard to be around for an extended period. He was just as aimless in old interviews and they were often only a couple or few minutes long.

I see this same guy now, minus the long hair. Maybe that's what's throwing you guys,

Remember the SNL sketch from the VH Lost Weekend with Lovitz as a fan in Dave's hotel room holding up a sign that said "HELP ME!"?

    This is nothing new.

He's mental. It's only a matter of time 'til it becomes an official diagnosis.

I liked his schtick in the mid to late 80's, yet have no use for his ramblings and 'humor' now.
    He grates on my nerves.

No idea how Eddie and the other guys put up with it back in the day, and especially in the last decade, being older men... Yikers!

How much time (outside of the live performances) do you think they have actually spent together in the last decade?

    None whatsoever.

It shows in the lack of chemistry onstage.

I'm guessing not much, yet I'd bet it's been more than 5 minutes at times (press conferences etc.) which is about all I could handle!

I don't know that they were ever all that close, even back in the early days. That being said, they obviously haven't been hanging out as BFFs since Dave's return in 2007.

A stage performance is a horrible gauge to use to determine closeness between band members. Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley, Mick & Keith, Motley Crue are just some examples . They weren’t speaking for years but you’d never know it. Unless it’s overt and obvious like Ed & Sam when they opened for Bon Jovi we don’t know .
"He has a swaggering retro machismo that will give hives to the Steinem cabal" -Camille Paglia on Donald Trump

"But, fucking with Brook is like fucking with hot shit on and ax handle. You just don't get a grip"-track5

"Make way for the bad guy"- Tony Montana

'This hamburger don't need no helper"- David Lee Roth

"I wish Bon Jovi would've given me a call before he recorded all of his hits, because the lyrics would've been smarter, the melodies would've been much more smashing, and they would've sold a lot fewer records." -David Lee Roth

"My beef is people thinking Bon Jovi is good cuz they sold lots of records to housewives." -tango

"But being number one doesn’t really mean jack fuck all. We sold twice as many records as other records that year (1984) that landed in the Number One position." ~Eddie Van Halen

I just received a phone call from one of my customers and was informed that the President of the company (who was a great guy) recently passed away. He was probably around 65 years old. Way too young. I'm truly grateful that Dave, Eddie, Alex, Mike and Sammy are all still with us.

He definitely can be amusing. Problem is he thinks he's way more amusing than he is. And if he tells 99 stories, often only one of them is funny. Witness that moment when Letterman paused pregnantly and asked Eddie, "Does Dave get on your nerves?" Every single person in the audience and watching on t.v. who had any clue who Dave is got the joke.

Fantastic front man. Great song collaborator. Just hard to take one-on-one for more than a few minutes, I assume. It's like gulping absinthe.
