Interesting the dislike from this thread....but the first x number of comments I read through at youtube loved the podcast. Probably casual fan view (there) vs. rabid fan view (here).

I love Dave but these things are absolutely brutal. If he’d tell stories about VH or his solo career that haven’t been told, they’d be must see TV.

This is like something they use to teach Psychiatrists in College.

So he just released another podcast. Nobody will ever know if there is VH info in there because nobody will ever listen to the whole thing.
    Right here I say....

Yep, the dude might actually be interesting if there was someone managing him, guiding the conversation and letting him Roth around the subject matter.

Roth in conversation is like EVH in a song. Unless EVH has someone to arrange the song for him and let him pick and choose spots to shine, he comes up with stuff like VH3.

Same with Roth hosting any kind of show. Dude just cannot hold a coherent line of thought long enough to be listenable.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

I imagine the cameras and recorders play a part. He can't be like that 24/7 in every conversation he has thru the course of a day. LOL
Could be heading that way though.

I would like him to actually talk, I don't know, music?

I turned that off after two minutes. Ramblings of a delusional dude.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Don't necessarily agree with the Ed part 100% of the time. But I totally agree about Dave. He so misapprehends his own appeal. He's lived an interesting life and does sometimes tell fascinating stories. But he tries to come off as this philosopher comedian, and the little story gems are so buried in meaningless drivel that it's not worth the effort to get to them.

Think of all the times he's been on, say, Letterman, and spends the whole interview trying to be funnier than the guy who is getting paid to be funny. Not gonna happen, dude. You just come off lame. You are a front man. Tell music stories, road stories. Behind the music type stuff. He has plenty to offer. It just isn't what he seems to think it is.

I love Roth era VH. But I honestly sometimes don't see how they kept him as long as they did. Imagine riding a tour bus with that guy for 200 dates.

That post was about as accurate as anything on this site. I'm anti-murder, but I'd Dexter the fuck out of out of him if I was on a bus for 200 dates with his fake-ness.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

I think he can hold his own comedically. He was funny as hell on Letterman in '84 as well.
