MLB 2019
Dodger bullpen is the only reason any team will beat them. Kenley Jansen is done. He’s a shell of himself.
The only lucky thing is the Dodgers have like a 15-game lead so a stupid loss means little in the grand scheme.Webmaster

MLB 2019
Dodgers never needed to tear it down to build this team. It’s called having a great farm system and good drafting. Most of the Dodger team is home grown. Basically all of the major pieces except Justin Turner who nobody wanted. Oh and Max Muncy who was released by Oakland!
This idea that you need to suck for a decade is just ridiculous.Webmaster

Having good draft position does help but it certainly is no guarantee to building a great team. It’s the quality of who you draft and develop.

Developing the talent is absolutely key, but it certainly doesn't hurt for some teams to be in the position to perhaps draft the "best player." Royals won the only way they could. Have the number one farm system( because of losing in the bigs), develop that talent, and then win when most of that talent is on rookie or manageable contracts. They will never have the deep pockets of most teams. I accept that.

can't believe how fast the summer slips away! Was thinking about one more trip to Jacksonville but I really only see one spot left on their schedule. Of course, their season ends a month earlier than the Majors so that doesn't help.

I usually don't like interleague play. But as long as the Nationals keep getting to play the Orioles, I'm all for it.
(Saying that, they probably whoop us today). If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

To be fair..... the DODGERS also used big $$$ to trade away bad contracts that the previous GM (Ned C) gave out. Teams like the Royals and other small markets don't have that luxury.
In 2012 they took on bloated contracts for Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett.
They dumped Matt Kemp's huge deal in 2014
They also dumped Adrian Gonzalez's deal. Kazmir and Brandon McCarthy got dumped in that same deal. 2017
Since 2016, the Dodgers have shelled out almost $140 million in dead money. For perspective, that's more than at least 18 teams will spend on their entire 25-man rosters in 2019,
In the Dodgers' case, the biggest chunk of dead money will go to a man who not only won't play for them this season, but has never played for them: right-hander Homer Bailey. Los Angeles acquired Bailey and some prospects from the Cincinnati Reds this winter. In exchange, L.A. shipped outfielders Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp and left-hander Alex Wood to the Reds.

Interleague play needs to be a once every four year deal or something..it stopped being interesting a long time ago.
Dealing with it.

Get rid of interleague period.

That's probably why Ian Kennedy won't be moved. The Royals will have to eat too much of his contract in a trade. I can't see them doing that.
Again, I'm a fan that pays more attention to that stuff than most fans. I accept it. 2014 and 2015 gave me hope that anything is possible. They've acquired some fine young players that I'm going to enjoy watching their journey.Utilize. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

It's past the All Star break and I don't think I've posted in this thread once.
That kind of speaks to the Cardinals season: unremarkable. Somehow they are just a few games out, but that's thanks to a mediocre division and the fact that most teams are mediocre in the NL which puts them in sniffing distance of a WC on any given day. The other day they were actually in the 2nd WC spot, which given how bad they've played compared to their potential is just stunning.
Anyway, the lack of excitement on the field hasn't stopped me from enjoying some games. I took my one daughter on her 6th birthday on a Daddy/Daughter date to a game. Two days ago I took my 2nd daughter (3) for the same purpose. On my birthday back in June my sister hooked me up with green seats directly behind home plate for the family. All you can eat/drink, a buffet and bar inside, and an incredible view of the game. Not too shabby. Those tickets are so expensive that was probably a once in a lifetime thing for me.
There's something special about taking your kids to a baseball game and pumping them full of hot dogs and cotton candy.CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

The NL central will probably come down to the last week, i don't see anyone running away with that division. My Cubs could, but I doubt it.
I stumbled into some Astros/rangers tix for tomorrow, taking my sons, could care less about the game, but pretty good seats..and all the 8 dollar hot dogs you can eat.lolDealing with it.
