Love Walks In is my song. It's just so beautiful to my ears. I love all the synth tunes on 5150.

I do like 5150, the album. It's a good, heavy and solid one as I said. But it was too different for me when it 1st came out: I was getting into that Bay Area music and wanted to start a band - got my 1st job and saved enough money in order to buy my 1st drum kit and so on. So it wasn't a regular scenario to me - I love Van Halen, I love the friction that the band brings to us, fans. I do believe they will release some other material with their last incarnation (EVH, AVH, WVH and Dave). But when 5150 was released, it took me way too much time to accept the fact that Dave was out. As time goes by and as much as I like Eat'em & Smile, I now think 5150 aged well enough to became my 2nd favourite Van Hagar record. And I do listen to it (even skipping tracks like BOBW and LWI) much more than Dave's 1st LP which is odd!!
I wish your enthusiasm would be rewarded.

I donít think weíll be hearing any further new music from VH4.

The only Sam Halen I listen to these days is OU812. The only Dave Halen I listen to these days is ĎWarning.

Iím pretty washed out on the old catalogue. Only 2 new albums over 25 years is ridiculous.

Really? I think that the LWAN version for Love Walks In is damn fine. It shows a more mature band with a different side afar from the party one. And it took me years to understand that since I was not a fan at all.

I dig the studio version of Love Walks In, but I don't care for the version on LWAN. It's the one song from LWAN that is definitely not as good as the album version.

    Where is the 'like' button?

I do not listen to Van Halen as I did for years, so I know what you mean by washed out. It's a shame that they probably have tons of material (at least ideas) all over the 5150 Studio and do not care to start something new so to speak. Personally, I'd say EVH and Co (VH 4, as you put) don't need to prove me a damn thing. But I wish I could see more from Oakland 1981 and a new album with exclusively new material in a year or 02.

That was an extra special song ... One of their 1st songs they worked together as a band ... Wasn't those the words Hagar used?

I thought it was fine live, I'm serious.

I think the song 5150 is the best thing Van Halen did with Hagar in the band.

I was watching LIVE Worcester 1998 the other day, and it occurred to me the songs from 5150 and OU812 would stand the time test if the production were better on those albums. I have a hard time listening to them today. The production is simply awful.

On a side note, after watching Cabo Wabo live from '88....With the right production, that song could have been huge. Make it a 3 and a half minute song...tune should have ended at the conclusion of Ed's solo. That and say the sound of VHII.

Cabo Wabo is one of the most unique VH songs in the entire catalogue from either era. Great tune. Itís a shame Eddie hasnít played it in so long.

Probably true, but I suppose you could say that about a lot of their songs!

No, itís more than probably true. Iím not talking about how VH is unique. Iím talking about how CW and its tone is vastly different from virtually any other track of theirs. I suppose Summer Nights is a kissing cousin.

No way would I want a condensed version of Cabo Wabo. Great tune and we would miss out on those classic harmonies during the outro. Sometimes 7 minute songs are meant to be 7 minutes.

I dont think I've ever heard a guitar have that tone that Ed achieved on CW. Unique indeed.
