Never was a fan of KC.
I agree. Zebra and Great White sounded more Zeppelin, too me. Them I didn't mind.

Between the two I'd say GVF sounds more Zeppelin than KC. It's not even close. The others mimic them in spots but GVF, musically, sound like Zeppelin 24/7.

Back in the day a lot of people thought KC was cool because it did sound like LZ. Just like GVF. Like GVF, a lot of people ripped them for not being original. Difference is that back in the day, you had flash in the pans who were quickly dismissed. Today there are only a handful of bands that are popular so they will not get pushed to the side for something new. Another is that people defend them by saying "well its been 40 years since LZ was around...."

A rip off is a rip off IMO. If some soundtrack compose was creating music that copied the theme from Star Wars, well I would say they are ripping off John Williams. Somebody could compose symphonies in the style of Mozart and 250 years later its still a rip off

I'm going to listen to the first KC record today at lunch. Might be interesting.

I do think the opening riff in Get It On is pretty damn cool.

pulled up their wikipedia page and they have 13 studio albums......I honestly thought they only had 2....wow.

Kingdom Come gets my vote. I like Get It On & Living Out Of Touch. Greta only has one song I really like.....Highway Tune.
Right Now you're reading my post!

Maybe that's it, I remember local radio playing GW doing a Zep tune and thinking it was very good.

You are probably remembering this. I remember when I heard/watched this I was thinking "wow, they are killing it."

Follow up...back when bands had talent. The 80's gets a lot of grief, some of it well deserved, but at least most of them were competent to great musicians that wrote their own material.
