Dude I'm one of the few defenders of III and even I wouldn't prefer to listen to it over DD.

Now Balance? Depends on my mood.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

It's hard for me to think of WACF without FW. I almost link the two in the VH Dave-era cannon. There's Ed felt Dave and Ted Templeman were running roughshod over him for WACF, that led to the dark, oppressive tone of FW both musically and lyrically. Then Diver Down was a record company rushed album that no one was happy with yet that immediately led to 1984.

I would go with WACF even though I think DD gets a bad rap. WACF is brutal and dark and lead to the moody darkness of FW. When I listen to WACF I inevitably follow it up with FW. I think the two are inextricably linked in my mind

That is surprising, since they took a total go nowhere song by the Kinks and made it into their second best cover tune.

I like You Really Got Me, Ice Cream Man, You're No Good and Dancing In The Street all more than I like Where Have All The Good Times Gone.

I can't pick one over the other; Woman And Children First isn't just a great Van Halen album, it's a great and timeless rock record.

On Diver Down, I love Cathedral, Spanish Fly, Full Bug, Where Have All The Good Times Gone, and Secrets is one of my all time favorites from the band. It's too difficult a choice.

Now if y'all had pitted Balance against Women And Children First ...

You are confusing Spanish Fly with Little Guitars.

Back cover shot of the Stones show, tour photos...they should've added a song from that show. Or something live.

What would Ed have hated worse....another cover or a live song? LOL.

    Women And Children First
That was a no brainer in my book!
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

If Fair Warning is an A+, the WACF is no worse than an A-.

They are both top 5 albums in the VH canon.
