Honestly it didn’t look intentional to me. In fact they were high fiving each other during One Way To Rock which was one song earlier.

Ed looked like he was distracted by something. Either way it doesn’t matter. We know they broke up a year later.

Might be rear view mirroring on my part, knowing all the shit we know now, but I thought it didn't look accidental, kind of a "keep me away from that guy."
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I just watched that encore and if no one said anything I would never have thought there was an issue there....maybe there was, maybe there wasn't. We know things were not hunky dory at that point but I don't think that encore was really anything at all

Saw the band at the Nassau coliseum and then Jones Beach-1 month before my wedding. Front row Ed's side. Tossed up a our Long Island loves Van Halen banner on stage. Sammy dedicated Not Enough to my to my to be wife and I. I have been watching all the 1991-1995 VH vids. Man I miss this version of the band.

I saw three shows on the Balance tour and loved 'em all. Ed and Al were kind of banged up but you sure couldn't tell in their playing. The band was super tight.

VH were never a tighter live band than in the 1990s.

Roth fans can say the opposite and that’s fine but they were a fucking giant in the 90s.

I'm a fan of both versions of the band. When Sammy was the singer, for the most part, they seemed to stay extremely close to the records. But I liked the jamming and and more free-form interpretations--even if it was all carefully planned--during the Roth years.

They were definitely "tighter" as a live act in the 90s, but my favorite live memories of VH are from 1980 and 1981.

Roth version was younger and more loose.

Hagar era was more polished and tight.

    I like both.

My fave tours of each period are VH2 and RHRN.

Is there a good bootleg of either of these tours? Everything I’ve heard is just terrible quality.

Diver Down tour had the best setlist imo. And there’s quite a few quality boots. Same for the first two tours. But 80-81 is scarce.

Check out Greensboro 1981 if you can find a decent sounding copy. Pretty good stuff. Ive seen it around and I think its more of the plentiful bootlegs from that tour.

Post a thread in the bootleg forum. Id send voa308 a pm if you want killer bootlegs.

The 2 shows I saw on the Diver Down tour in September 1982 were really good, also. Much better than the US Festival in 1983.

US fest was an embarrassment that barely rivals 2004. They were sloshed.

And honestly from the Dave years Id say the south America 1982 tour was the best after the first tour.
