    Man .... You're insane, hehehehehehe!

It's F.U.C.K. for me. The drums sound kicks since Andy Johns made a hell of a job with Alex VH back then.

OUhate12 is their low point to me, ever. Bring me half Van Halen 3 any day of the week over Van Hagar's 2nd effort. Can't stand stuff like Black & Blue or Source of Infection - 02 pointless tunes IMHO. Add to it the poor production and the drums that sounded dated. Though it has some good stuff (Mine all Mine, Cabo (love that guitar riff), AFU), the whole album seemed to be done so fast with little good pieces here and there. Even Sucker in a 3 Piece sucks to me. Funny thing is ... I love Feels So Good - it has to be the video clip and Edward's solo and the fact that Alex use 02 ride cymbals to get that overpowered hi hat sound and the backing vocals as well.

I voted for 5150 but honestly it's almost dead even in my mind with FUCK. I love both of those CD's. I love OU812 (I know some hate it but whatever). Balance has great songs but for some reason it doesn't seem to fit together as well as the other 3.

For 25 years OU812 was the weakest Sam record, too me. Wasn't crazy about it from the git go. But the last 5 years I've gained a new appreciation for it.
Definitely needs a remaster but it was the last with a decent Ed tone. I guess I might be appreciating that a little more as well.

Or it could be simply that I played it the least, so, I never grew tired of any of the tunes like I have with the other records.

    Normally, I'd pick 5150 but lately it's OU812.

Lol it's all good Simon. For me, I think the drum sound on FUCK is the most overrated. Sure, the snare and kicks sound pretty good, but I'm not a big fan of his ride cymbal on that album and the toms just dont sound good for much of the album. I think they actually over mic'd his kit, which I think caused the toms to be such a garbled, distorted mess on tracks like Poundcake and JD. Definitely think the toms sound better on OU812. And the drum sound on the BOV1 1996 tracks destroy the FUCK drum sound.

FUCK for me. The album has its weaknesses, but its production and strengths make it up for me. Overall ranking would be

FUCK - More of a balanced record than Balance.
5150 - Love it all except for Get Up and Inside, but production is a bit of a downer
Balance - Great production, but the good song to filler song ratio is way off
    ---
    ---
    ---
OU812 - I almost never listen to this. Production ruins a lot of it for me. Mine All Mine and When It's Love are still great.

It's glaringly obvious that the keys in Poundcake are missing in the RHRN version. It's just under the second half of the solo IIRC.

    There’s no keyboards on Poundcake.

It's not a keyboard, it's a rhythm guitar playing the Ahhah ah ah ah part in a higher key.

The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Ed said something about Andy Johns asking him to double a part of the song with an electric 12 string, maybe that's it?

Might be, if you listen closely it has that shimmering type of sound that an electric 12 string makes.

Yup that’s the 12 string section.

5150 is running away with it.
