Hopefully this thread can devolve into a Sam v DLR bashfest....

I didn't expect any Van Halen news or announcements here, but I just wish people would still ask more specific questions about the band in general during these rare opportunities.

"Dave, there's a lot of talk in the fan community about the possibilities of having Mike play with the band again, what would it take?"

"Dave, the original VH band was one of the most exciting live rock bands of that or any era yet it has almost no official documentation, when can the fans expect some official live albums or video showcasing that?"

"Dave, were the remaining songs for ADKOT completed and when might we hear those?"

    Etc., etc.

Actually I had the feeling that Joe Rogan was upset by Dave's answers regarding this. He wanted Dave to be more aggressive. Dave's Sam comments were very, very mild compared to stuff he's said in the past. He was almost ready to say that the Sam era was just different. He's said stuff like that before like "this band has had great alumni." And Joe Rogan was almost fuming "but.. but... this meant so much to us, it was NOT the same band." Dave had to agree, but he didn't say this.

But I don't think that dumbfuck Joe Rogan pressed Roth on Roth's singing "style." Rogan should have brought that up, and came down on one side or the other. These podcast hosts are not the real deal. All ponies and rainbows.
The days of a Mike Wallace, Barbara Walters or Tim Russert (the GOAT) are over. Back when there were three TV networks and Rolling Stone, you could ask the tough questions. Now a politician can go to FOX or MSNBC, whichever is the sympathetic camp, and Roth can go to Eddie Trunk, Adam Carolla, Blabbermouth, Ultimate Metal, Classic Rock, or a thousand other places that will be ecstatic to have the Mick Jagger of the early `80's in front of their microphones. So now everyone has to play footsy to get the interview.

Rogan is a contact sport champion and commentator. He likes competition and friction. Dave's 65 and knows the history is written and probably doesn't care so much anymore.

Dave is all stories if he never sings again.

His stories seem to say he knows how to sing.

I don’t know how anyone can listen to Dave for more than a few minutes.

I just tried to watch this and had to turn it off.

Could he laugh any more at his own jokes?

Since VH wouldn’t let Cabo Wabo served at their shows I wonder if Dave will have a tattoo cream stand set up at shows? It certainly guarantees they’ll be playing Tattoo on the next tour.

Any time Hagar talks VH, the Roth fans say “why can’t he just say no comment”?

When Roth gets asked about Sammy it’s “he was asked by the interviewer”

    Just more hypocrisy

Help me out here, was that post about Hagar era being for the mall crowd posted as a positive or to talk shit?

You don’t want threads to turn into Sam vs Dave, then people shouldn’t post that shit.

Once they do, it’s going to devolve.

So you intentionally do it, and that somehow makes it better? Ok dude, go with that and Godspeed.

No not intentionally but certainly am guilty of it.

These guys act like they don’t contribute to that. Obviously they do.
