In case you care, here's what the NFLPA is telling its players to do over the next 18 months in preparation for a work stoppage (that's a fancy word for: strike) in March of 2021:

Save at least half of each paycheck, if not more. If your current expenses are too high to save this much, you should look at ways to change your spending habits and reduce financial commitments.

Try cooking at home instead of eating out as much.

Designate one day a week as "no spending day".

Take care of major home repairs now.

If you're in the market for a new home, consider renting instead of buying for now.

Find renters for your unoccupied homes or bedrooms.

Consider selling a car you have not driven in the past six months.

Avoid signing a long-term lease on any rental property that you rarely use.

Learn to say "no" -- or at least, "not now" -- to friends and family asking for money.

Consider selling clothes you have not worn in a year on Poshmark, Thredup or Tradesy.

You just have to sell your Armani suits and say no to Rolex!

If you have watched Hard Knocks over the years, this isn't happening. Plus the majority of players are working off their rookie deals. These guys who are 4th or 5th rounders will not be able to survive as long as vets who are on their 2nd or 3rd contract.

They also have wives who are accustomed to a lifestyle

The owners are able to sustain a loss of revenue because they didn't get that rich by being football owners. Its a hobby. The players require a paycheck for their lively hood

I love football not the NFL and that goes back way before the take a knee bs..... I really dont care if they strike or not. Just thought it was a pretty funny memo from the NFLPA.

Good article on Tough guys of the NFL. Lots of Old School guys. Not sure I agree with #1. Or at least in that spot.

Hey DD after watching McSorley play about 6-7 quarters of ball in the first two exhibition games here is what I think so far. His arm is not Dan Marino like but it aint chop liver like either. When he's playing with the number ones he makes completions. He has 2 nice td passes one was called back for holding but they all count in preseason. He also has 2 picks. He tries to force the ball into coverage and he needs to learn to look off to another receiver or throw it away which is correctable. He's not your average 6th round pick and don't forget many said he would not even get drafted. I would say the league kinda Flutied him as he is only 6 ft 0 maybe. They just don't think anyone under 6 ft 1 or so can play qb at a high level. They will have to find a place on the roster for him unless he totally screws up the next two games. He won't go thru waivers if he puts up two more games like his first two imo. The Ravens play the Redskins next week so you can watch on DC channels.

While I don't think every team thinks 6 foot QB's are a hot commodity, the last two 1st picks in the draft are 6 foot or less. I know John Elway wants big guys with strong arms but I think the league has acknowledge that accuracy, reading defenses, arm strength are more important than height. Its a copycat league. Had Baker not done well, no way does Murray go number 1.

McSorley fell simply because he wasn't exceptional in some skills that teams think are important. Good story and I think he will make the team but he fell to the 6th because there were concerns with him.

Politics aside. That whole war was a total waste of human life. I know a few vets Rockys age one was at the siege at Khe Sanh. Last I talked to him he was going blind from agent orange.

In case you haven't heard me say this since the early 2000's, this is where players go to bury their careers.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the helmet Antonio Brown wants to use was tested in a lab, and it failed.
Brown is so frustrated with the league's helmet policy that he's left Raiders camp again. Raiders GM Mike Mayock was forced to make a statement at Sunday's practice, and he didn't hold back. Mayock said the Raiders need to know if Brown is "all in or all out" and that they can only "hope" that Brown joins the team for Week 1. As of now, Brown is nowhere to be found, and there's no timeline of when, or if, he'll show up. The Raiders believe Brown's feet are healthy enough to practice fully, so he'll be ready to play the second he wants to.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman
