    Default Happy 41st Birthday ...

To the amazing album that started it all. Still my favorite record of all-time.

Killer album. One of my personal faves and probably their most popular album or closely behind 1984. I think they’ve sold the same.

Fave song is Ain’t Talkin Bout Love.

ATBL is an all-time VH classic. One of Eddie's greatest riffs and some of Dave's best lyrics.

1984 is my favorite album/cd of all time. Not just from VH, from anyone! The debut is arguably my second. Choke full of good stuff.

ATBL is certainly one of my favs off it. Eddie's into riff is just as iconic as the other stuff on that record that put him on the map IMO.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better debut album in rock history.

Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Are You Experienced, and Appetite For Destruction are the ones that immediately come to mind as being in that class.

I'd still take Van Halen over any of them.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

My boss and I took a couple of guys from Thrifty Ice Cream (one of our customers) to lunch this past Thursday. I just happened to have VH I in the CD player (shocking, I know) and the guys from Thrifty had never heard this song before …

I used to drive a couple underclassman girls from the neighborhood to high school when I got my driver's license and they always asked me to "play that ice cream song" that was in the CD player that you played the other day.

I've always believed that the only reason CVH isnt more popular with all generations is lack of exposure.

My older daughter (who is now 21) went through a phase when she was about 3 years old where she would make me play a particular Van Halen song over and over and over again until I actually got sick of it. First it was You Really Got Me. Then it was Jamie's Cryin'. Then it was Ice Cream Man.

The worst was the summer before she started kindergarten and she made me play (Oh) Pretty Woman every single morning on the drive to pre-school.

I would agree with this or Zep 1 or 2
EVH 1979: Well, actually it's not much of a vacation, because we run everything ourselves. We design our own album cover, we have to be in the office every day to sign checks - the whole corporation revolves around us. Nothing can be done without our approval. We even have photo approval.

Lol, that's my boys with Stay Frosty now.

I must've listened to it 20 or 30 straight times on the way up to our last camping trip.

Funny thing is I never really got sick of it.

That same daughter of mine used to like to "jump like Dave" (I showed her that 81 Oakland video of Unchained WAY too many times) when she would get out of the bathtub when she was about 3 years old. Of course, mom or dad held onto her hands to assist with the landing.

Heh, my son was about the same age when his cousin was born.

I was playing the studio version of Unchained downstairs and he went and jumped off the first stair and then asked me to restart the song. So I did and he did it again.

So we're in the hospital waiting room while his cousin is being born and I'm bored so I play Unchained Oakland on my phone. He immediately hears it and goes over to a couch and jumps off of it. It finally dawned on me what he was doing downstairs in the house the prior day, he heard the guitar riff and associated it with Dave jumping off the drum riser because he had seen me watch it before.

I found it fascinating and actually a little bit scary how our kids can be influenced by things they experience at a young age even if they only see it a couple times.

There has simply never been a more sonically and visually entertaining band than the original Van Halen.
