Whatever I mean it’s the same guy asking why Motörhead wasn’t a huge success in the US. I take it with a grain of salt.

You would think Lemmy's wart would bring them all the success they would need.

BTW, I think I just found my next band name...Lemmy's Wart.

Van Halen should cover Ace Of Spades on their next record, tentatively scheduled for release on the day after never.

I've come to the conclusion that the next Circle record is the closest thing we will get a new Van Halen album in our lifetimes.

Would love to be proven wrong, but I doubt it.

The poster is comparing the debut Montrose album to the debut album for Sam in Van Halen. And I kinda agree with his assessment of the two. The Montrose debut album was seen as the quintessential hard rock album. At least by american standards. It gets nothing but praise from musicians in the 55 to 65 age bracket.

70's Classic Rock will always be my favorite era of rock. And I'm also more a fan of Sam solo then I am his time in Van Halen. That's the space I occupied as it was happening though.

5150 has its problems - the songs aren't one of them. Yeah, WCTBL gets slagged here a lot by certain members but objectively it is a good tune. And it's probably my least favorite on the album.

    5150. Not even close.
Objectively, WCTBL is good mid 80s pop schlock. But it's still pop schlock.

I like WCTBL, I think it would sound great live if given the I'll Wait treatment, but where they lose me is LWI, to me, that's Richard Marx level cheese.

Picked mine up in the summer of 1978. Local head shop. Probably picked up a bong as well, as that was the summer that weed became more important to me than baseball.

I found an original press of the Montrose debut on vinyl for $.50 about five years ago.

I’ve never owned Paper Money but I probably should.
    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"
