The Circles / Rasta guitar on the floor left of the 355 , before it got its paint jobs . Ed had that body cut to a thickness close to a Les Paul to make up for the thin tone he felt he was getting when he started using a Floyd in 1979 . There`s pics of it in the studio for the WACF album

The ugly yellow one next to the pick axe, any idea what he used that on?

Looks like something Billy Gibbons would have played on Eliminator.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

There are generalities that help you narrow down the species you should choose for your guitar, but even then there is a decently wide range of what it could sound like. That guitar was specifically constructed to be thicker to offset some of the thinness in tone the prototype Floyds had, but it may not have made much a difference, hence its limited use.

The long story short of what I'm saying is that it's not likely that the body's extra thickness and thus extra weight contributed greatly to the tone. If the tone of that guitar was that much better then Eddie would've continued to commission and design guitars with thicker bodies. Instead he threw it in a corner and gave it away to a kid.
Thanks for the tutorial, Jedi....Interesting info. You are, well, a true Jedi....May the force always be with you..lol

Yup, the Hydra... I've seen pics of him playing it live, or possibly another one, as I seem to recall it being red?

Pretty sure the yellow one pictured was for sale at a place like Norm's Rare Guitars or something a couple years ago. Never heard what happened to it, yet the price wasn't exactly cheap...

I have that album on CD. It's a fun tribute album, but it really does highlight what a special, untouchable band CVH was. Definitely some cool stuff on there, though.

I still like the Unchained/Circles design better, but seeing Dweezil playing the Rasta in that recent video and seeing Brett's pictures of the making of his, has given me a new appreciation of the Rasta. It is pretty frickin cool.
