Van Halen: The Dream is Over.

A movie would be cool, if done right. 'Done right' is the kicker... Ie: It likely won't happen.
Band approval? Consent to use recorded material from '78 - the present? Hmmmm. I won't hold my breath.

The Early Years DVD is about as close as we're going to get, and even that, while cool, was pretty biased; hence the title. I wouldn't want a 'proper' VH film to end in '84/'85, as Van Halen obviously didn't.

Rosie O'Donnell will replace Melania as First Lady before Van Halen consents to a movie.

Besides, the band would never sign on which would make it all the more awkward and weird, especially when they refuse to let them use their music.

EVH is friends with Brian May. Who knows. Maybe Brian will talk him into it when Ed sees how beneficial the movie was to Brian. There's the money issue, but also the fact that even while they live as recluse, I doubt the VH bros wanna be forgotten. A big budget Hollywood movie kind of guarantees high visibility for a good ten years at least.

There is no way they would green light it and be a part of it. The only one coming out of it not looking like an egotistical, idiotic, dumbass is Mike.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Didn't Brian write a paragraph for one of those EVH photo books that Zlozower put out, basically saying that he hadn't seen or heard from Edward in many years? "I miss the hang..."

Toni Iommi might be a better candidate to urge Ed to consent to a VH movie, IMO.

VH is not Queen. They don't have that kind of fan base. Heavy metal/hard rock doesn't have same appeal to the masses.
I don't see any studio wanting in on a VH project. The Stones, Beatles, Zeppelin...maybe.
Ozzy is the only one in that genre I could see a studio spending tens of millions on.

Of course, VH would never want it.
Honestly, not sure I would either. Just be a lot of stupid drama I'd rather not live again.

Default The Van Halen Movie: coming or not?

I donít know that thereís really been anything that dramatic from a personal standpoint to warrant a movie. All the band members are alive and there hasnít been like a tragic death or something. Whatís the story going to be, a bunch of dudes that canít get along over petty differences? Sounds like a million bands that havenít been able to hold it together. I mean whatís the climax going to be? I just donít see a lot of human drama in Van Halenís story.

And honestly as a fan I donít think I want to watch two hours on the big screen of the same frustrating shit we argue about every day on here. Van Halenís history is not exactly an uplifting tale.

700 million is eye popping even in the VH camp, as long as Noel is not involved.

I would agree. There's no great story there.
Even if there was they don't have a gagillion fans like Queen/Fred to warrant a film.
