Just like the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin....Queen is right there with them in popularity. I know no one knew any huge Queen fans back then, or think they have enough good material to be that popular, but that's how it was then and how it is now.

I know VH was a huge band in '83 and '84, but hard rock just does not attract as many fans. They had a huge year like Motley had with Dr. Feelgood, or Leppard with Pyromania, but just because they were huge that year doesn't mean they gained a fan base comparable to the Stones. That didn't happen.
    That’s the reality.

Queen has enjoyed a post Freddie career resurgence for sure, but their music was already legend the world over. All these guys that say they didn’t know Queen before Wayne’s World don’t seem to realize they were the minority. That IS in fact why Mike Meyers homaged them in that film lol.

Queen had mad respect from the industry and the global music scene long before Freddie died.

I remember the 1986 issue of Hit Parader titled "The Van Halen Wars" with both VH and DLR splitting the cover. That kind of intensity doesn't exist in rock anymore in 2019. Maybe it has migrated to hip hop, but rock craves that kind of storytelling. There's a way to write that VH movie making this rivalry quite thrilling.
