    Definitely my favorite so far!
The 1,2,3 punch of ATBL, Eruption, and YRGM is pretty hard to top. If it's even possible...

Neat to see young Edward tear it up during Eruption, and use of the Bomb etc. Too bad the movie footage is spliced with still shots throughout. I don't remember the older grainier clips being like that? Either way, these are cool as hell. Very fitting that I just watched this on Eddie's birthday... Hail to the King!!!

This is probably the best Eruption I have seen. So much fire and energy from them all. I can't even begin to imagine what it must have felt like for Journey or Sabbath to have to follow that! It's like having a mad bomber come to a town and level it and then after it's been destroyed, you have to find the nearest gas station to grab some milk while wading through the rubble. Even though I was only 7 when VH I came out I certainly caught on to it by Fair Warning. It's just so sad that there is no known pro shot video of a show from the first tour.

LMAO when the audience were booing the roadies when they started to take down VH's gear.

So ultimately longer ATBL, Atomic Punk, and Eruption versions plus YRGM now!

That is without question the best live version of ATBL. Love the '78 intro where Dave and Ed go back and forth and the "who likes to get hiiiiiigggghhh" breakdown.

New Van Halen record should be called "Victims of the Science Age."

Incredible footage.. no band could touch that musicianship, attitude and energy coming off that stage!

I feel safe in saying we'll never see something like that again.
Your last sentence is of course 100% correct. And after hearing countless shredders over the years, the impact could never be the same as it was in '78. Same goes for the Beatles, because the era that surrounded that phenomenon is gone. I knew of VH in '78 due to a friend who had the album, and I had taped it to cassette using two mics in front of the speakers in my parent's giant Zenith console stereo. When we saw them open for Sabbath we really did go for Sabbath as they were legends. There were people who left after the VH set but I don't recall it being half the arena like I have read many years later (maybe in other cities?). It was a cheap night out and we always stayed for the entire show as we had a 45 minute drive to get there. I had been playing guitar for two years at that point, and after the show I went home and tried to do this Eddie-style tapping but became pissed because I couldn't sustain the strings at all. From across the arena I had no idea he was actually flicking the string with his right hand in order to sustain the notes, and it may as well have been a technique from outer space at that time.
