    Default Happy 35th Anniversary 1984!

Jape I wouldíve assumed it was a potshot too because thatís usually what goes on around here when VS is involved. Itís really hard to tell when someone is just truly joking around in a situation like this when you canít see someoneís reactions

I would honestly have the same reaction if I were in his shoes to be fair.

MTV really blew this band up. I remember Jump coming out just before the end of 1983, and MTV just played that video over and over. Same with the following videos. VH, besides recording great music, was very much a visual band. Alot of people (youngsters esp) had never seen VH live, so the videos allowed them to see the visual aspect of the mighty VH.

    Where was the potshot, Brett?

I included myself in the scenario, which was a play on words with the VH
    lyrics to HFT?

Where is this shot i'm taking?

    I'm genuinely confused.

Totally. Yeah 1984 is awesome, but itís the videos that really took Van Halen to the next level. They were all over MTV during that period. It opened them up to a whole new fanbase that is still with them.

I would venture a guess that Van Halenís fan base doubled when 1984 hit big.

Dude I get it. But VS takes a lot of shit, and heís certainly not innocent by any stretch, so most comments directed to him are negative. Thatís all Iím saying.

Your friendsí dog piles mean nothing to me. No need for you to include me I post when I want to. If you truly feel bad and wanna be good natured, why not PM me and chat person to person?

    Happy 35th, '84.
Good record. Not my fav. I remember thinking at the time - and being aware of the infighting, etc.. - that the ship had run its course and that this would be their last.

Favorite tune off 1984 is probably Top Jimmy.

I'm just not a PM kinda guy (though, i usually respond if messaged).

But my comment was good natured, and a riff on HFT.

If it were to be taken literally, i'm the one who's portrayed as "uneducated" in the spiel.

If you want true intentions of good will to be taken, itís always better to PM. Public tongue in cheek stuff makes it look passive aggressive and like youíre baiting.

That's why no one likes it, too obvious.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Great album that shot them into the stratosphere, but I had already been to the edge with this band. The hunger of the beginning years can never be matched for me.

That doubling of the fan base was likely both a blessing and a curse in a way

@Coulda: where has HFT ended up in your best VH song brackets traditionally?
HFT is still one of my fav VH songs. If its a VH boogie (Source of infection Included) its one of my favs. Eventually I'm the One won out for #1 VH boogie for me. but that's solely for guitar & drums.

So clearly they are going to tour this year to celebrate the anniversary and play the album start to finish.... Right?
