    Default The Iron Maidens

Dude itís the same singer theyíve had for years, she just gained like 150 pounds Iím not kidding. Bass player and the drummer have been the same forever too. They only seem to swap out the guitar players from time to time.

Apart from the guitar players none of them are very hot...at least to me. Yeah itís cool chicks can play Maiden I suppose, but I donít know the novelty just doesnít do much for me. And chicks that can shred on guitar are kind of a dime a dozen here. There are so many of them.

And man we used to see them practice all the time without the singer in our studio without all that make up...OOOOFAH!!!

Good for them & their dedication.

The Maidens spawned a new generation of female "Troopers" in Japan.

These girls LOVE the maiden sound, and all of them can shred.

    From Wikipedia:

"The Iron Maidens were originally formed in June 2001 by vocalist Jenny Warren and bassist Melanie Sisneros, formerly of the Iron Maiden tribute band Wrathchild."

I actually saw Wrathchild in the summer of 2000 at the Anaheim House of Blues. They were on the bill with Hollywood Roses (GNR tribute band), an Ozzy tribute band (whose name I can't recall) and the Atomic Punks, when the amazing Brian Young was their guitar player. Wrathchild had at least one (if not two guys) on guitar. They went to an all female line up the next year.

I think the two main Ozzy tribute bands are No More Tears and Blizzard of Ozzy.

Nikki Stringfield is a sweetheart. Knew about her long before she was in the Maidens.

Rhoads to Ozz get my vote, in terms of the guitar player practically nailing Randy's live licks and appearance.

A couple years ago we were goofing around with Crazy Train just warming up and the bass player from the band just walked in and asked if he could jam that song with us. He was like relentless and I was getting mad, but he wouldnít take no for an answer so we played it and let him play bass. We just wanted him to get the fuck out of the room haha. It was really weird. He was really weird. Good musician though. I didnít know who he was but afterwards he told us he played in that band.

We get these fucking guys all the time. They just hear some classic metal or rock song and they just walk in like they should be allowed to play. Who the fuck are you and get the fuck out of here, weíre actually rehearsing. Haha!!!!

Right on, and I know what you mean! Had that happen more than a few times.
Funny that you mention Crazy Train.... We we're playing at the Gasworks, here in Toronto, and the lead singer for Crazy Babies (local Ozzy tribute band) got up and sang that tune with us.

Who cares about that? He's the guitar player!

I caught No More Tears once, and the guy was a dead ringer for Ozzy on the mic.

The greatest Ozzy tune, no one knows:

    Rock & Roll Rebel.

That thing shoulda been as big as BATM.

Going Waaaaayyyyyy off topic here..... but you reeled me in....

Not quite. It is just not as good a song. BATM outro solo is great. Great riff. BATM is also iconic at this point with the chorus and the howl.

RNR Rebel is a good song with a solid riff. Couple good solos as well as the outro. But kind of cliche lyrics from Bob Daisley. YEAH..we get it... your a RnR rebel..Scary....

RNR Rebel probably should have been the 2nd single instead of So Tired. Center of Eternity/Forever would have been a ok choice as well. HELL, every song on BATM is better then So tired...haha...

Both RNR Rebel and COE were played at every show on the Bark Tour in 83-84. They did get exposure to the fans. Just not to radio as much. After 84, both were forgotten about like the rest of BATM except for the title track.

RNR Rebel is like Jake's "I'm the one."

There are about four solo's, and they all showcase his virtuosity.

Centre of Eternity is a close second, great tune.

BATM is pretty much Crazy Train at this point, over played.

I stand by my Rebel comments.
