For sure, TFC has gone viral many times as a meme not to mention all the other places it's been used. Doesn't surprise me too much it has the views it has.

How about the "very late in the game" establishment of an official VH youtube channel by the band? And the fact that contrary to other bands, they don't post the videos for their second and third most popular singles on there (WCTBL and PW)?
Also for whatever reason they didn't want to affiliate themselves with VEVO.

My point is these management mistakes are slowly but surely chipping away at VH's legacy and place in rock history. It might not be obvious to everyone busy talking "Sam/Dave" for upteenth time. But when ppl will decide "can VH play stadiums," you bet they're gonna also look at youtube views. That's the world we now live in.

Dude there are numbers anyone can check about how many singles of TFC were sold and how many singles of Jump were sold. Plus I was there. I remember that time. I can guarantee you that TFC was not 10 times more popular than Jump. Not the 45, not the video, not the song on the radio.

If Jump has fallen behind, it's due solely to the band's incompetence and mismanagement in the Internet era.

Final Countdown also had a recurring joke on Arrested Development.

Van Halen's real YouTube problem - which is actually their entire social media problem - is a lack of presence and regular output. Come to think of it, that is actually their entire problem as a band right now, but I digress. It's asinine that their YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages aren't more active. Even just regular photos, this-day-in-VH-history, or any other fan base maintenance posts would help them so much if they ever decide to tour again.

Van Halen just has a horrible web presence. From their useless web site to how they handle themselves on social media. I understand the band loves secrecy and mystery, but this is apathy and laziness more than anything.

Very reason why 99% of the younger generation say

    "Van Halen Who ?"

Are you checking worldwide or just America, as you lot usually do?

Plus I was there. I remember that time.
And this shows you miss the point. TFC, as I've pointed out, has lived on throughout the past 30 years and stayed relevant in a way Jump hasn't. How hard is it to understand that You Tube viewing numbers in 2018 include views from people not even born when the song was released?

Hmm, ok. Let's say you right. But then why? Why has TFC stayed more relevant? It's definitely not musically more relevant than Jump.
Also "Jump" WAS big in Europe. Jump was world wide. Other VH songs, I agree, were only big in America. Jump is the exception, it was a world wide hit. But VH hasn't really capitalize on it.

TFC was a cornball tune that has been in lots of different things over the years. Everyone knows that dumb song, even little kids.

I haven't heard that song on the radio in years, I hear Jump regularly on multiple stations.

They used it on a stupid GEICO commercial. That's what desperate bands do to get a paycheck.

Let me know when you see Jump on a GEICO commercial.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

    Default Van Halen's Youtube Problem

Itís been in other things. Itís just one of those horrible songs everyone knows and itís been used in lots of stuff. I donít know what the big surprise is. Shitty bands like Europe need a paycheck so they license the song for everything. The song is a complete joke.
