The back up vocals in DTNA are simply awesome.

Not trying to ruffle any feathers, and like I said, I love the version on record. Hell, I popped in Tokyo Live the other day, as I mentioned in another thread, and played two songs. DTNA was one of them...

I just don't care for most of Roth's stuff here. Was some picked for the final version? Maybe. Sure. It happens all the time. The choked note attempt in the first verse on the 'across the room' bugged me. As did some of the other lines and melodies. And what was that B.S. during Ed's solo? Don't ever do that again! I can almost name the first dickhead that will cite WCTBL, yet that's a totally different thing and vibe.

The OP asked for opinions and I gave mine. Like I said, it's not like I hate the song, yet this version was not pleasing to MY ears. Period.

Me too. Dave has a couple cool inflections on this alternate version. I also like that we get to hear the outro extended out further.

I still like the original better, but it would be awesome if VH released a box set chalk full of nuggets like alternate takes and live versions. Probably my favorite box set ever is the Who's 30 Years of Maximum R&B, because it is loaded with those kind of tracks.

Well then I stand corrected - which has often happened on this site! - because you weren't who I had in mind. Haha.

Want me to even it up? I love Not Enough, yet cringe at the live version - lead vocals - from the Letterman show. Yeah, that was live, yet showed me (maybe for the first time?) that Sammy had off nights as well.

    It happens.

It's so impressive how these guys recorded live, no click tracks or shit like that. Never noticed Roth on the backing vox too.

Same. This is pretty cool, but definitely like the original better.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

There’s a ton of stuff VH could release but for whatever reason chooses not to.

We need more of these alternate takes, like previously mentioned that Zeppelin released. It's cool to hear a different take on something you've heard a million times before. Like the Guns N' Roses alternate Appetite versions on the AFD Deluxe release.

How about the demo version of Everybody Wants Some!!

Look, obviously it is a rough early, incomplete version of the song and the album version is much superior. So before anyone poo poos this as being atrocious, wouldnt it be cool to have a boxset loaded with bonus tracks like this? Plus, we get Dave's line, "this go on your mouth!"
