Also, a Jackson will have a carve on the front and back and flattened heel so your hand can get in there to hit those extra-high notes that make all the girls instantly fall in love with you (just kidding, they don't care at all). A Charvel San Dimas/SoCal will have a traditional Stratocaster shape with the standard heel.
EDIT: Also, a pocket for the tremolo to be pulled upward on a Jackson, no pocket for the Charvel San Dimas/SoCals.Last edited by ArtyBoy; 12.21.18 at 01:49 PM.

It stands up well against both. It's definitely road worthy.
It's tough to put it ahead of the Ibanez models. Those are great playing guitars. But it's not far behind.
It's right there with the EVH series. Two very different guitars, though. As you know.
I guess it's a preference thing. The design, all the goodies, oiled neck... I lean towards Jackson for a shred machine.
I'm partial to the Duncan pups as well. You can get some great clean tones with those.
When it comes to it, though....they're all great guitars.

You don't have to shred, Art. Like you said, Jazz chords, blues...pretty versatile guitars.

Nothing to do with a Jackson, but, from left to right; Wolfgang, Striped series and Kotzen Tele

Always been a sucker for a Jackson. Had a 2008 Japanese made DK2M for years. White with black hardware, JB/59, maple fretboard, yum. Still kicking myself that I sold it. Bought a 2015 version in the chlorine blue burst brand new and it was still great but just not the same. Got it up on Craigslist now. The difference between the Japan made versions and the Mexican made ones is quite remarkable.

I've just realized those beloved pointy neck super strats have become the "Cargo pants" of guitars.
Those were awesome axes in the day, too.
I had a badass maroon Charvel with a reverse head stock, which i stripped to bare wood.
I think my model was called the Predator.Graver, Walking Ed, refugee from CVH & proud tone chaser...
