We had a 47 year old woman with slightly greying hair & glasses, working at customer service.

This sincere lady in her late twenties walks up & motions to Deb and says:
The elderly woman working at customer service was incredibly helpful!

    Thanks!

About 20 years ago (when I would have been 34), we were at a Christmas party and I was talking to this girl, who was probably about 16. She had recently gone to a Wallflowers concert and I asked her how it was? She said, "It was really good, but there were a lot of old people. There were people there in their 30s!" I said, "You're kidding!" I remind her of that whenever I see her ...

That kind of stuff is always interesting if not surprising. We kind of assume people so skilled in one area canít be blessed in others!
Alex got into swimming as a regular exercise I believe sometime in the late 80s early 90s.

"Old people" is kinda a young term.

But "elderly" is just cruel, because it's trying to be respectful but insulting at the same time.

Probably about the time he sobered up? Isnít he also an avid golfer? Doesnít mean heís athletic because he golfs;however, as a guy who was blessed with more than my fair share of athletic ability, there is no sport remotely close to golf when it comes to how hard it is to being good at It. Also played football, basketball and baseball at a large high school, while being ranked as one of the nations top amateur Racquetball players from age 10 to 35. (Wilson still endorses me to use their products.). Also an expert level snow and water skier. to round it out.

Not saying this to impress anyone as it emberassing to even say this to people who only know me on a very surface lever. I know I look like a douse just bringing it up. The only point I am using this for is I was able to get down to a single digit handicap in golf. (Iím a six but have been as low as a three.) Nothing was harder to do or more satisfying. Hardest sport to be good at. Not even close. (Not even playing football on scholarship matched getting to a three handicap). If Al can play like I believe I have heard, he has to be athletic to some degree.

(Off topic JD, I mentioned previously Neil Pert and Alex went one two respectively as my two all time greats. Since you educated me a bit, I have started focusing an Al's playing more where normally Iím overly obsessed on what Edís doing. I have to say I think your right. Heís amazing. I really didnít appreciate how good he is because everything was about Eddie and what he was doing that defied what we thought was possible. Now in retrospect and really listening, Alexís skill set is not below Pertís. In fact Iíd argue his playing is more more complex AND more diverse. As Sam once said ďHeís big and bad.Ē in stating how he was the glue and overlooked.

Anyway, thanks for causing me to revevluate his greatness. So underrated because who his brother is.

    Cheers!

Whenever I am drawn into a conversation with a woman of *any* age where I think's she's obnoxious or worse, I always make sure to be polite while punctuating sentences with "ma'am."

disbelief. Then again, Cruz, Costner, and many many others are remarkably short. TV can really be deceptive regarding height. Creative camera angles!
I know Stallone always gets shit for being short. He's not 5'7" though. I'm a shade over 5'10"... he came in our gym once in 1993. I didn't get too close to him or actually talk to him, but he just said hello to all of us and walked around (He was friends with the owner). He was no more than 2" shorter than me. He could have been wearing lifts though , idk.
