It's rather pathetic. I mean, VH is one of the biggest bands of all time. Even if it is links to old shit, it's links to old shit. They are diminishing their legacy by doing jack squat.
    Right here I say....

Its really a shame the only Van Halen that updates his fans is the friggen dog, Kody (at least on Facebook). Not sure which is more pathetic, that Ed's dog has a facebook page, or that I follow it hoping for some VH news.

Ah, but I forgot; Van Halen fans don't appreciate new music; they're only interested in the classics. And why do something that the fans wouldn't appreciate anyway.
Yes.. More like this alternate take of Dance the Night Away that surfaced a few years back:

    Appreciate the link.

Years ago, connecting with the fans was a labor intensive and expensive endeavor.

Does anyone remember being a member of the Van Halen fanclub? (I wasn't, but...) Most every band had one. I likewise remember getting my first copy of 'The Inside' magazine. As a gift to new subscribers, the magazine included four promo photo's; one of each band member.

My point being, way back when, throwing an occasional bone to the fans cost time and money. Nowadays, the fans would be made happy with a simple, occasional, youtube, upload.

How much would it cost? Nothing.

How much time would it take? About the length of time it took to read this post.

And i'll tell you something else: is it me, or has the tone on this forum changed a bit? It seems like, a year or two ago, a poster's complaints were met with a largely defensive posture by his/her peers. 9/10, came the refrain: "the band owes us nothing." Nowadays, it seems as though the patience of many has worn off.

Since the rock genre has gone by the wayside, I have transitioned to country. Even so, there's simply no substitute for the abundance of rock anthems that came out of the 70's/80's. And to think that I took it for granted...

"I don't think he owes us, and I think few if any do. What we would like is for him to release music, since he is our favorite musician. It's a wish and a hope, not a critique." - Dave's Dreidel

It really is sad that in this day in age, their website is never updated or utilized to it’s potential.

Y'all need a few history reminders...

2002... The band's webmaster (aka Brad, aka BoBo) takes down the official forum, The Pleasure Dome, and a lot of great historical cuntent from the official web site claiming an upgrade is in the works and coming back bigger and better than ever... Ed goes through divorce and cancer treatment... the official website death spiral goes into effect and never returns.

2006... Ed and his PR team (wife) go all in on the Sacred Sin porn movie and soundtrack. Video and soundtracks are released via the internet... Fans were fairly critical of the music and business turn into the world of porn for the guitar god. That material disappears without any fanfare.

2007... Ed & Al announce Wolfgang as The Bass Player™ for the band. Completely new website is announced and a sneak peak reveals the infamous erasure of Michael Anthony from their debut album cover art work and the Kid™ edited in... Fans take offense at that debacle, the net and media blow up and Van Halen's web presence gets buried in Ed's back yard...

What we have today is pretty much what's left over since the 2007/8 reunion tour and ADKOT release in 2012.

No idea if BoBo is still Van Halen's webmaster... throughout all this he continued to produce Michael Anthony's personal website and hot sauce web material. Given that association I'd be real surprised Ed didn't dump his ass for associating with Mike...

If anyone is surprised or doubtful why Van Halen has shit for an internet presence... look at the history... one mismanaged failure after another and every fuck up provided fuel to despise the fan base.

PS... Ed isn't going to fire his wife over the poor PR handling of the band... Everybody loves the damn dog...
Woke up this mornin, got Blue Moon in your eyes...

Yeah, we get all that. The fact remains, it ain’t that hard. Erasing Mike is BLACKHOLE stupid. They could easily give some nuggets from the current incarnation and it would appease most. Can you imagine the fervor if they’d sample some of the demos they worked up for ADKOT (remember they had multiple albums worth, etc).

The coolest thing they’ve ever done was inviting some of the die-hards to the rehearsal gigs and Wolf dropping some of the never played live stuff from rehearsals. Both of which cost the band very little.

They have no social media presence either.

    It is what it is.
    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

The band has had zero web presence since the turn of the century. They’ve done next to zero press, and had next to zero musical output. And zero reissues or extras/vault material. And we aren’t going to. I quit trying to make sense of it years ago.
