Recently , mtv had an interview with the new band Puddle of Mudd. In it, they asked:

MTV: When did you realize this is what you wanted to do with your life?

    Phillips: [When I was] 15.

Scantlin: Me too. I went to a Van Halen concert. It was my first concert, and I got kicked off the soccer team because I didn't make the game the next day. I saw Eddie Van Halen playing the guitar, and I was like, "I want to do that." I started playing guitar and started writing songs at a really young age. It's all I've ever really done.

BTW, that was the lead singer speaking, who also plays guitar in the band. Might i add, this band kicks major ass. i bought their latest cd, and its rocking, and yet reflective. Their the band with the new song "Control", which is a rocking song. Most people call it the "smack my ass" song. Anyway, i thought it was cool how heres another band who acknowledges eddie as the one who inspired him.

Not exactly a big Fred Durst fan from a musical standpoint, but the guy has directed some pretty cool videos as of late. Got to give him credit there.

He's definitely a lot better as an A&R man than as a singer/songwriter. Of course I can tell you what songs are good too, but damned if I could write one
