    Default favorite live albums

A post in Main inspired me to post this question. What are your favorite live albums? Here are a few of mine.

Rolling Stones: "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" and "No Security." "No Security" is a cool disc because it doesn't bother with the warhorses. It features an absolutely blistering version of "Live With Me."

Aerosmith: "A Little South of Sanity."

Guns n' Roses: "Live Era '87-'93."

    Metallica S&M

I'm a sucker for symphonies and have always been a closet Metallica fan.

    Since we all know that most live albums have some degree of touchups after the fact;

    Yngwie - Trial by Fire.
Pink Floyd - The Delicate Sound of Thunder.
Van Halen - Right Here, Right Now.
Harem Scarem - Live in Japan.
    Ozzy/Randy - Tribute.
Dokken - Beast from the East.
    KISS - Alive II.
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - A very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

How could I have forgotten "Exit Stage Left?" "Different Stages" is another excellent Rush live album.

I listen to live albums more than studio albums so my list would be huge but I'll try.

I'll include a few that aren't even rock (or at least hard rock)

    Limiting it to older ones:

    Live at Leeds
    Made in Japan
    Unleashed in the East
    All the World's a Stage
    Hot August Night
    At Folsom Prison
    Randy Rhoads Tribute
    How the West Was Won
    One More From the Road
    Pulse
    Live After Death

I should've included Exit Stage Left! That one gets at least an annual listening, a tradition like decorating the Christmas tree.

EVERYONE should own a copy of Waiting for Columbus by Little Feat! Phenomenal album on every level!

Tribute & Speak of the Devil, for me, as well.

I love both those Ozzy albums, and i think Brad sounds great on the all Sabbath
    material.

    Yngwie- Live in Leningrad
    Scorpions- World Wide Live
    Randy Rhoads Tribute
    Iron Maiden- Live After Death
    Deep Purple- Olympia '98

A lot of live albums are not really "live" but are heavily tampered with in the studio, so I've always been cautious of what we refer to as an actual live album anymore. I can't stand it these days but I think Black Flag's Who's Got the 10.5? is probably one of the purest live albums I've ever come across. It's totally unpolished.

    I forgot another one I heard a lot growing up, via my Dad;

    Ten Years After: Live Bootleg.

Alvin Lee was pretty wailing back then! Cool to find out many years later that a other hero of mine -Jake E. Lee - was also a fan of him. Jake also mentioned liking Jeff Healey... A fallen icon from up here...

How did he fall (hopefully not by tripping over something)?
