Haha, just a couple weeks ago some poker player pal of mine over a tourney game was trying to convince me that Anthony Michael Hall’s signature role was Rusty in Vacation and I of course countered with Brian in the Breakfast Club. Ultimately I bounced him out with making the nut flush against his pocket cowboys but I failed to convince him that Brian was more a legacy role than Rusty.
Breakfast Club? Weird Science and Pretty in Pink are far superior movies for him in my opinion. He carried those movies as a supporting actor. Not to mention Kelly LeBrock was the hottest woman alive at that time. (Sad what she looks like now &#128561 (couldn’t edit that. Supposed to be the horrified emoji!)

Rick Moranis is another guy i fucking worship from his days on SCTV.
Point taken. And yeah, Strange Brew is a low budget masterpiece.

Most is Americans didn’t have the pleasure of seeing SCTV. No arguing they dominated the fostering of so many great comedians. Probably even more so than SNL and SCTV existed a fraction of the time. Not to mention SNL used them as their “minor leagues”, plucking so much of their talent.

Steve Martin. Bill Murray. Chevy Chase. Phil Hartman. Norm McDonald. Eddie Murphy. Dana Carvey, Will Ferrell, etc.

Funny as f*ck! Many classic movies, and each had a dud or two on their resumes, yet a LOT of cool memories overall.

Bill Murray. THE MAN! Beyond genius. Love his comedy. Such a long career with just a few duds.

Man this thread got me fired up! Lol

He wasn’t in Pretty in Pink lol. You’re either thinking of Jon Cryer or Sixteen Candles. I’m sorry sir, but your 80s card must be revoked now.

I agree that his role as Ted in 16 Candles is an iconic one but not as iconic as The Breakfast Club.

Kelly LeBrock was def smokin in Weird Science.

    You mean Destructo.

Points for those who remember the OTHER kid in Weird Science. Without googling

And super bonus points for anyone who remembers Andrew McCarthy’s one other signature 80s flick besides St Elmo’s Fire and Pretty in Pink. No googling

    Oops yes sorry.

The other kid from Weird Science was also in that movie where Eddie Van Halen did the soundtrack for the Wild Life.

Yes! Ilan Mitchell Smith. Never did a known thing after those flicks.

Certainly not a comedy, yet he was a co-star in Less Than Zero. He did some funny stuff in Weekend at Bernie's, as well.

Less Than Zero was a classic too, but no, not the movie I was referring to.

Re: LTZ...I think more of James Spader and RDJ and Jamie Gertz. She really was one of the 80s B list queens.

    .
I still YouTube his old Jiminy Glick interviews. He asks Steven Spielberg, when do you think you'll ever direct 'the big one'? I swear I think he takes the question seriously, but probably not.
    Dealing with it.
