    Default Favourite Christmas Songs

So this weekend is the Santa Claus Parade in Toronto which is the unofficial start of the Christmas season for me. Got me thinking of putting together a great Christmas music playlist. What are your favourites?

I'm a sucker for any version of Oh, Holy Night, but I especially love a particular instrumental version, all brass, that aired on the Christmas episode of the Aaron Sorkin show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. There was such a response to it (the episode had a side story where late show musicians were calling in sick to get work for displaced musicians from Katrina, and consequently the show within the show had some of those musicians on as the musical act) that NBC put an mp3 of it on their website. If anyone wants to check it out, I'll see how to get it to ya'll.

    EDIT: LOVE Tom Waits

I don't like too many. I like Winter Wonderland, and Little Drummer Boy (there was a time I detested the latter, but I really like it now). Of course in any case, I guess it depends on who is singing it.

Good tune. The Darkness rocks. Merry Christmas.

Love the Christmas tunes! I have a large collection of Christmas music.
It started when I was little. My dad played the Phil Spector and Gene Autrey Christmas records.

Here's a homemade CD I've been jammin' for some time....

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
    Sleigh Ride - The Ventures
Please Come Home - The Eagles
Let it Snow! - Dean Martin
Wonderful Christmas Time - Paul McCartney
    Happy Xmas - Lennon
Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry
I Believe in Father Christmas - ELP
    Christmas Wrapping - The Waitresses
    Sleigh Ride - The Ronnettes
    Sugar Plum Fairy - Tchaikovsky
Santa Clause is Back in Town - Dokken
    Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 - TSO
Christmas Time is Here - Steve Vai
Santa Clause is Coming To Town - Bruce
Christmas ( Baby Please Come Home) - U2
I am Santa Clause - Bob Rivers... His take on the Sabbath tune...Dr. Demento show)
    Santa Baby - Madonna
Santa Clause is Back in Town - Elvis
Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms
The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole
    Father Christmas - The Kinks
Step Into Christmas - Elton John
    Marshmallow World - Darlene Love
    Jingle Bells - Diana Krall

I've gotta make another one one of these days. Got some Mariah Carey, Buble doing Jingle Bells, Keith Richards Run Rudolph Run, more TSO stuff, more Spector, gotta get Gene on one...time for a part 2.

lot of essentials in that list. I think after Thursday I will have around 150 Christmas songs on my iPod. I accidentally played the playlist that contains them earlier this week so I had to skip the two Christmas songs that came up. Not until after Thanksgiving!

"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.

    Take any Christmas song.

    Have Frank sing it.

    There you go.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!
