Obviously. Thatís how good Joe is on that album. The fact it rivals any Sam Halen at all is remarkable.

Let's not forget that first Montrose album. Stellar songs and vocals throughout.

Good idea with the Doubleneck but I'm guessing EVH would probably have to build a completely new one specifically for Top Jimmy. Since we know from the 1984 Guitar Magazine interviews he used a Ripley on Top Jimmy.

I don't think that CVH will ever play live again but if they did, I would hope they drop Jump and Panama and add some of these we're discussing here. And Dave could sing monotone throughout...we just want to hear these songs full-tilt live!
I think Me Wise Magic is a sore spot for Dave. Briefly back on top with the band just to have the rug pulled out from his feet by Ed.

Likewise, itís probably the same reason why Sammy never performs Balance songs live.

Well, Ed IS in the business of building guitars, so if he wanted to I'd bet he'd have no problem building a doubleneck specifically for Top Jimmy.

PCTS live would be utterly epic. For the diehards.

Still my third fave VH song of all time.

I donít think Ed would go through all that just to play Top Jimmy.

And the vocal range would be more suited for 2018 DLR.

Disclaimer only one side of the story but Top Jimmy was rehearsed for 2015 but after a few goes it was dropped. Parts needed to be more spoken word and needed a few tweaks but Edward did not want to make tweaks and when tried without tweaks it did not work so very quickly dropped in rehearsals.

The PA systems big bands like VH use in these large venues run in MONO, so the special Ripley guitar (w/ stereo pan-controlled pickups) is really not at all needed.

He would just use his normal guitar with the tuning he wanted, and he would rewrite/design a new solo that would fit in.

I don't think it would work.

Songs like Jimmy & Push are incredible studio creations, slightly more experimental.

Then again, i never expected Dirty Movies to be played live, with all the slide parts &
    crazy guitar overdubs.

That's a good point and what I always thought. The Sammy thing, though--he did do some Balance songs throughout the new millennium but not often. "Amsterdam" in '00, "The Seventh Seal" in '03, and even CSLY in '08. Granted they weren't played a lot, but neither was OU812 post-Halen outside of FWYS and WIL.
